Portugal!
Wow....announcers here (in the US ESPN telecast) were giving Portugal a lot of grief about playing too defensive (boring), but I think they went forward a fair amount. The certainly weren't packing 10 men in the 18 yard box and never going forward. Congrats to Portugal... Steve SD Blitz |

Yes, congrats to Portugal.
I guess it is kinda fair to say that they weren't the team that played the best football overall in the tournament... but to continue that i would go so far that it has been a rather disappointing tournament concerning the quality that has been shown. No team was really convincing in the end. Just when i thought that France would be the well deserved winner they somehow stopped short and were not able to deliver in the final (although they might have been the better team in the first 90 minutes). Germany was as well a bit disappointing in the whole tourney as in the semis, because we just didn't score enough goals and did not have the offensive power one could have expected. Best thing of this EURO were both Iceland and Wales. These two small countries are the real winners for me personally. |
