Imagine, you play football in the park, having some friends with you.

3 of you play DL. There are you, having tackling 50, and both friends hav tackling 0. Would you play different compared to the situation where another of your your friends have tackling 50 as well?

If I don't make the tackle I don't see how my tackling skill would matter to be honest. My vision, positioning, footwork etc would help me beat the OL in front of me or not for sure but my tackling I don't get it

The D line is in some way calculated as a whole each affecting the other so any play made the line is contributed by the whole and not the individual, same as I took it for OLine. The NT may not make the sack but he's contributing to the sack ( tying up two/ three blockers freeing a DE. This is my take on Pete's words anyway. And I take it to mean the DT are rushing the passer and blitzing in the description to mean rushing the passer. I scheme in this belief.

I would think the only difference is that the 50 tackling guy would get every extra Attention (Double Team) available of the OL

I move the 50 tackling guy to Mike and have the other two tie up blockers 😜

Remind me to avoid that park.

Also, reminds me of the perfect form tackle that made my fraternity's rush week football game "2 hand touch" on special teams.

That's why I stopped playing flag football. Taking the brunt of spear tackles without pads starts to take a toll when you get beyond a certain age...
