Ok where would you make this guy play to get the best out of his crazy salary ?
I know he looks like a perfect OLB (he plays OLB), but I am wondering if he would not be more impactul at CB1. ? I am tired of seing my CBs missing tackles.

I feel it's a pity to primarily "only" use it as a pass rusher, but I am not sure how heavily are OLB's involved in the passing game ? I have the feeling they are only competing against TE's on passing plays or backing up missed tackles by CB's.

Although his high strength does help against rushing plays I guess.

SPEED : 49
STR : 48
AGI : 49

INT : 41

VIS : 50
POS : 50
TACK : 50

EXP : 5*

So, CB or OLB ?

He is definitely a great player, regardless of his position.

My (very limited, non representative) data shows that OLBs have almost no use in the passing game (except blitzing ofc), so if it's important to you that this player gets more involved in defending the pass you should probably move him to CB.

On the other hand I would want more INT in my starting CBs, but I also have very high requirements for this position.

I guess it all depends on how much you are blitzing and on how good your other LBs/CBs are.

I bought a FA with the intention of playing him at CB, but then his strength didn't red cap until 48. Here are his stats:

STR: 48
SPE: 50 + trackstar
AGI: 16
TW: 36.4
INT: 37.7

Vis: 30
Tac: 28
Pos: 19
Ftw: 11

I know, his INT is lower than I would prefer at CB, but there are only so many guys with 45+ INT and enough speed, so I bought what I could afford. I would play him at OLB, but I need a CB more in the short term.

My question is should I train his Pos and make him a CB (maybe OLB if I get better replacements in the future) or train FTW and make him a DE?

Looks like he would be best at OLB. Even if you don't need an OLB right now, the CB build is almost identical to the OLB anyhow (just FTW that is different). So I'd just keep him at CB while you need him there, and you can always convert him to an OLB in the future if your needs change. Optionally, he will also make a tight SF with that much strength, but once again similar build (just CAT that is different).

If you need a CB then make him a CB.

Unless you train catching, every other skill you'd train for a CB will be used for every other defensive position so it doesn't really matter.

DL doesn't use track star so I'd probably swerve DE anyway

Ok, one more. I drafted a 20 y.o. LB with the following stats:
STR = 50 red capped
SPE = 44.7 red capped
INT = 47.6

Pos, vis, tac all between 25 and 30. Footwork around 11.
Heavyweight trait

I probably need a MLB more than a DL right now, but I am more concerned about the long term (I just promoted to 1.1 and I'm going to lose most of my game this season either way).

Is he fast enough to be good as a LB or should I covert him to DL?

He would be a great DL, but I would probably put him at MLB myself. His speed is a bit low for LB, and it will drag down your sack rate a little bit, but he isn't snail slow, and the rest of his abilities scream MLB.

My best sack machine was 40 in speed last season. So no problem to play him MLB.

I'd say MLB, because you don't need as much footwork training that would cost you precious development time.

MLBs will get the most sacks regardless, the issue is that a low speed at MLB will reduce your overall sack rate across all of your LBs. I more than doubled (40 -> 92) my league sack rate last year just by swapping out a slow MLB for a faster one (who was worse in all other aspects).

EDIT: Although I still think this guy has enough speed to get by at MLB.
