San Diego Blitzkrieg (ELO 1293) @ Stockport Sabres (ELO 946)
ELO is predicting a clear win for the ‘krieg here, but I beg to differ. The ‘kriegs Franchise QB Gregoire has been patchy to say the least this season; 66% completion rate, 75TD’s but 25 Ints and sacked 33 times - it's the Running game has looked more effective if not getting the glory. But this is the ‘krieg and they get the job done…. difficult to stop when they’re on a roll, offensively or defensively. The Sabres have just completed the perfect season in Claymore 1.1 and they have that LB corps that I am dripping a river of green envy over. What is most impressive though is Alg’s game-planning skills, as the Sabres Offence does lack (comparatively) the obvious punch. We’re thinking a possible upset here…..

Hmmmm....guess I have my hands full tomorrow.

Bonnyrigg and I seem very closely matched, one point in ELO before the relegation playoffs. A game I very much expect to be a close encounter. But as always I have a little something I think will help me along tell you at 7pm after game if it worked or not! But my history tends to show my haphazard schemes dreamt up in the depths of the Cross Keys bar can be a masterstroke... May our Northern cousins beware and not take my jobless wonders too lightly, because our light fingers could pickpocket our way to victory.

We leave the confines of the Jobcentre on dole day of all days!! Lucky we have our bus ticket money today to travel up to the dreary Scottish badlands...as before, Linebackers checked out of Highcroft, Corner Backs released from Winson Green and O-Liners picked up from HQ Bar, we are ready. en garde

Harumph, Stockport failed to eliminate the colonials from the UK Cup. I'm jolly well going to have to deal with this in a stereotypically British way, by making a cup of tea and sitting tutting to myself for the rest of the day...

When my team scored the equalising TD in the last quarter some hope was there to finally beat Leeds. But it was only a flicker of hope that got crushed in the final minutes of our match.

Congratulations to Jonny ! The only consolation is that my team can not get weaker as nobody is retiring.

Four great games... Stockport and the Sharks SO close and the other two games were crackerjacks too - closer than the scorelines suggest!

Very pleased with my teams performance, didn’t expect such a close result.

Good luck to those that remain,
Alg.

Well done to the Doleys, totally outplayed my team after the first quarter. I enjoyed the tournament and the reports were great reading. Thanks for the invite and count me in for next season if it's running.

I really didn't expect that scoreline at all. We both had defensive tds and by the looks of it the main difference was third down efficiency. Seemed to lead to the yardage difference. Unlucky mate!

On the other hand my nemesis seems to have bottled it to play me in the knockout stages of this tournament yet again so onwards to the Foxes! A tie I think will be quite interesting and one to look forward to!

Semi-Finals
Hills will be also doing some predictions, but here are my thoughts:

San Diego Blitzkrieg (ELO 1300) @ LeedsCeltics (ELO 1198)
ELO shows a big lean to San Diego, but the Ratings indicate a clear advantage to the Celtics. In the Rush v Rush Defence and Pass v Pass Defence the Celtics have the edge on both sides of the ball. Looking at the head-to-heads over the last two seasons and it is 2-2, though there wasn’t actually a match-up last season. The ‘krieg may have to rely on some niftier play calling than last week against the impressive Sabres - San Diego were 6/15 on third down (very Accies like!!). On Defence they rely on their ancient Ivorian DL Alamieyesigha who was simply awesome last season getting into the backfield and creating mayhem. Which is what he will have to do again if the Tournament favourites are to overcome the Celtics, who despite having a tough season 27 are going to be a handful for the West Coasters with their pass heavy offence. Last Season QB Hategka and his very able deputy Van Vliet combined for a Total of 169 TD’s against just 7 Ints. And on Defence the two Sebs of the Linebacking corps like to create their own backfield party. But as somebody once said “you pay your money and you pick your choc-ice”. Well I’m going to patriotic and pick a British version!.... Celtics by 8

Firenze Foxes (ELO 1119) @ Erdington Doleys (ELO 911)
Both ELO and Ratings are shouting the Foxes on this one - there’s at least a ten point gap in the Rush v Rush Defence, Pass v Pass Defence: both ways. In a tight game against the Sharks last week Foxes QB Faeste still managed to complete 82% of his passes without a pick - he is somebody very difficult to shut down. Chiung, Neumann and McCallum create a solid bedrock at OL and the aptly named FB Kelly Rush averaged over 5 yds a pop last season. On Defence Soliz, Beckford and Frost are the big powerful DL that the Doleys have got to plot a way around. The Doleys though are good plotters - can they do it again? Well I think maybe - their Roster really doesn’t look that scary and their Stats don’t show a superstar. I’m kind of lost for what to say - just respect for the number of rabbits that Hills continually pulls out of the hat (if you ever run short there are annoyingly plenty of them here in the Hebrides, despite the eagles). I’m going to play safe and go with the facts and figures, but perhaps that’s one reason why the Accies are so pitiful. Looking forward to this game. Foxes by 12
