I can imagine that the mechanics of this game is much different from running a team in real life.
As in most simulation games this is mainly about progress - and in this game it begins with building up the stadium. Hence the coaching staff and through a couple of drafts you slowly begin to build up the team that will have a Playbook worth dealing with.

In general this game is slow progress and highly centered around balancing the budget, while training your team for desired Playbook Strategy. It's slow.

I enjoy it - not that I'm good at it, but it's perfectly slow for my temper.
The community here is great....and for me personally, I love the draft and the Youth Academy. Having that youngster, who could be a star and molding him along to the first team.....I enjoy that.

.....and after 5-6 seasons I still manage to make crucial mistakes, can't completely design a proper PB.

When i was looking for a management game it was the "negative" reviews that sold RZA to me. Things like "it's too hard", "it takes ages to get anywhere" and "the teams who've been there for ages have a huge advantage" made me think "amazing! this sounds like a real challenge and i won't get bored of it for a while ". Turns out i still massively underestimated this game

same here! The "negatives" about RZA caught me too.

First time I've got in touch with the game (football, not RZA) was at age 35+, in January 2016 when I zapped through boring german TV channels and got caught by a sub channel broadcasting a very entertaining football show and games. A month later i saw my first Super Bowl (TV), someone screamd "Oma Ha, Oma Ha"; very sympathic to me that the guy who's thrown the ball was always yelling for his grandma beforehand.

Offseason begun and i forgot football entirely for more than half a year. Then late in December 2016 i remembered that TV show and switched back in again ... Week 16 games were just finished, Playoff resp. Wildcard games, and with that, weeks of entertaining sunday evenings have just begun. And suddenly i wanted to know more about this sport and what's behind of a football team. I also developed sympathies for a team that was very successfull with throwing Hail Marys, Jesus , and running tables and followed them the whole offseason until draft 2017, and followed communities where fans stated their "could haves" and "should haves" and how much they would have draft better if they were GM ... blabla ... i didnt understood, for me this guy was as good as the next one, ok a little bit taller ... and faster ... and stronger ... and smarter ... and whoops look at his 3 cone drill result ...

... and then ... i wanted to know for myself how it feels to manage a football team. Determining a team's needs, and draft and manage accordingly to succeed finally. Knowing that real life isnt easy to simulate, I dived into the internet to find a proper simulation. It took a while. There are a lot of simulations out there, and with the majority of them you are able to simulate a whole season within a minute just to get you to the next draft and season. With that kind of a game approach it takes 10 minutes to compete with the best, and another 10 minutes to win first Bowl. That was interesting for exact half an hour. And then I found RZA and got caught again. Sure, RZA has its ups and downs too, but it comes close to what I was searching for.

On the other hand I understand and imagine that someone with decent football background must have a different view on this football simulations. It lacks of a deep draft experience (e.g. trading draft spots, just to mention one), it lacks of some common play excutions (e.g. fake punts, 2PC, etc.), etc. Good news is, this game is under steady progress and until then I can learn how to deep chart efficiently for instance.

In RZA it takes time to be competitive, but how about real life?
(Un)fortunately the RZA community is too/very kind and reveals (too) many "secrets". A lot of data analysis is done and was published already. Sometimes I ask myself if Dan Quinn would call Belichick to ask for best strategy to win Bowls and in analogy to RZA community Beli would answer "What the hell took you so long? Sure Buddy, I've done the job for you. I'll tell you what: I want you to ***k my **s next time."

Smite and all Smite-Likes, besides maxing out your stadium, I recommend to develop a half way decent PB. Dont expect wonders, but sometimes it helps to succeed against little bit better teams, and thats the moment when the kush kicks in. See you on the turf
