Worst case, there is a hard cap on how much experience a single player can gain in any one game. Probably a good thing. Helps mitigate some of the loopholes in the current experience system (which I still wish was a quadratic per game function to better represent more realistic diminishing returns).

I've got absolutely no problem with there being a hard cap or any other sort of cap but I feel like as managers we should know about it.
Managing the experience of your entire team is one of the main tasks of a good long-term manager, in RZA and irl (ie: when do I bench my older QB to give experience to my younger QB? is one of the most debated questions in the NFL). Same in RZA, we have to decide when to stop giving older players EXP and when to use the snaps for younger players that will eventually be the future of the team. If we don't know what the cap is we can't do that as efficiently as possible. I feel like managing my team's experience is something I'm really good at and one of the things that gives me an edge over the competition so it's really disheartening to learn that some of my efforts to manage the snap count of each of my players might be counter-productive due to some secret limitation that's been in place for 26 seasons and that we only hear about now. |

So do players that are actually Gunner or Kick Returner only get experience when they play those positions?

Since K/P doesn't suffer an OOP penalty playing at either spot, I assume training a dual kicker/punter doesn't get punished on XP in this manner, unless you did some other shenanigans?
I read through the whole thread, but I think I'm actually more confused then when I started here. LOL |

What is allowed in the game, might not be during training. |

Oops poor phrasing on my part. Not training, but XP penalty - obviously you can't give specifics, however ... could I get a "not likely" or "likely" if I were to play the same player at both K + P spots? I imagine where there's relatively few kicking snaps to go around, it wouldn't incur such a penalty.
Just going thru my new team, I've got a strong leg guy who looks like easily my best kicker and punter, just figured I'd let him play both for now ... if it's not "wasting" snaps. |

Playing K at P and vice versa is totally OK in terms of gaining XP and so on from games.

From a salary perspective, I think it's better to have two players. One that you've maxed kicking out on and has lower secondary skills. And a similar punter. If you had a kicker/punter with both 50/50 Kicking/Punting...his salary would probably surpass the two other players.
Just a thought from a notoriously cheap owner... Steve SD Blitz |

Ahhhh ... I never entertained taking a K or P that high. Think my old dualies usually topped out around 45's in K/P/Vis, then started on off stats.
In that price range ($200k-ish), I liked the security of having a dual K/P starter, and one about 5 years younger training up behind him. I remember bombing out of the playoffs one season due to an injury at K, with no reasonable backup available. Generally speaking, I just like the roster space of two dualies, versus carrying 2 K + 2 P in the roster totals. |
