I know this is supposed to be a simulator but surely it’s supposed to be the same most things here are ok to a point but I’m under the impression that nfl players don’t get paid during off season hence the bonuses etc so I’m confused why we do it here

Easier handling from an developers point of view, and one exception less to keep in mind for the manager.

We could change it, but would raise the weekly salary by the amount you would save in the offseason. I see no point in doing this.

The NFL pay schedule varies. Most players get their pay in 17 installments during the season, but the Titans, for example, pay their players in 13 installments between September and mid-March. At the end of March, they get a lump sum of the rest of their salary. Before that, the Titans, formerly the Oilers, used to pay players year round (26 bi-weekly payments). They changed to keep their accounting within the league year.

One positive with this idea is that it would help mitigate some newbie "surviving the offseason" issues.

This is my thinking I’ve personally been in money trouble Downfall with this game is once u get the warnings etc your screwed I nearly quit because of it moral goes down so u lose games which means ticket prices goes down which mean income goes down u really are screwed by the game system if u go in financial trouble I had to sell my entire roster to the bare minimum even then I was still in red it’s took me 2 seasons to get out but at every offseason I’m back in it there is no profit for me at all and I’m sure ain’t the only 1 with this problem that’s had the warnings

I do agree. I think spreading the salary over the season would be much more helpful for newbies.

As Pete mentioned the weekly salary would go up but it's easier to handle when you have income coming in than when you don't.
