trading back was definitly the right call for GB I think. guess they wanted Ward, but he was off the board anyway. they got a future 1st rounder for moving back a few spots! and the Saints payed 2 1st rounders for a very raw prospect - lots of potential there, but also lots of risk. they are betting on their scouting and evaluation to be superior to everyone elses, and stuff like that almost never works out. GB did what still makes the most sense: getting more shots at good talent by accumulating more picks and not overinvesting in your own evaluation of a single prospect And the Bears got Smith! You must be quite happy with that Buddy? |

great pick, I love it! just a prototype of a rangy modern linebacker, great play recognition, very good in coverage and the future leader of our D. my only concern with him was scheme fit, but with fangio signing off on the pick he should be fine. if roquan pans out he has the potential to tranform this D into a really good unit with a few more pieces around him. cant really ask for more, waited for a pick like that for years

Reminds me a lot of Patrick Willis. Nuff said |

Congrats Bears, but that wont help in any case. However, good to see, despite all, your hopes still hanging high.
Day 2 is in the books, let's see what we've got. First of all there was an absent of the expected big movements across the board. Instead, conservative picks. GB took his shot on Josh Jackson CB at #45 in rd 2 and moved up 13 spots from rd4 pick 1 to rd3 pick 88 overall to go for Oren Burks, LB. Most obvious, these must have been two Players ranked high on GBs selection board. Some say that a good pass rush helps the secondary to perform better, others say a good secondary assists the pass rush vice versa. With a high quality pass heavy NFC North division, Brian Gutekunst went out in his first Draft as GM to load and deepen GB's CB room by grabbing another high CB prospect in Josh Jackson. With King and Jackson on the outside, Alexander in the Slot, this looks like a bright future and uplifting rebuild in the Packers backfield. But what about the 3rd pick? I didnt knew anything about Burks before, but I like the pick. Packers staff loved him from the first moment they met during a pre-draft visit. Besides the immediate great chemistry betwen franchise and player, he also seems to be the prototype of an versatile defensive player with high football IQ. Mike Pettin will love his new swiss army knife. Burks has experience playing (hybrid-) Safety, ILB and OLB. He has the size, athleticism and power to move around. He's a tackler. He also finds the ball in the air fast for deflections or interceptions. He will learn fast and a lot from his new teammates and LB leaders Mathews and Martinez. With today's 8 picks i'm curious if Gute switches offensive part of the ball and load some prospects, e.g. for Campens OL school. Also some good raw pass rushers worth to trade up are still out there: Dorance Armstrong, Josh Sweat, Ogbonnia Okoronkwo Last edited on 2018-04-28 12:06:31 by Mücke |

53 man roster cut ahead ...
If Kumerow doesnt make the team i dont know what one must do to make it. Else: Hard decision on WR and TE class. TE: Tonyan wont go to GB's PS, he will be calimed by another team before. If he makes 53, Lance Kendricks is the cut candidate here. OL(my good): GB has exactly 5 OLiners (Bulaga, McCray, Linsley, Taylor, Bak). The rest are as of street football calliber. Only Spriggs and Panky could "shine" a liitle bit at least but are far behind from the 5. Gute better hold eyes open to claim some depth. DL, ILB and the CB group is solid and most competitive one since years. OLB/DE, pass rush overall is a concern, but what can GB do if they dont offer 2 first rd picks to go for Mack (dont see that trade happen). At this moment we havent seen the starting front 7 yet. Maybe the Daniel Clark Wilkerson trio can be distuptive as it looks on paper, that would ease up the work for the edge staff. Here is the hope that this works out. Interesting next 24h to come. |

Think we're probs keeping 4 TEs with the Rip departure. Sad to see him go but really let us down with that fumble against Atlanta in the CC.

that fmbl was a downer for sure ... but dont believe that this was a decision in that regard. More a decision of good depth at WR and TE
Dont-wanta-hold-the-ball Mays made it to the inhjury reserve ... well done! no offendeing, i still believe hes a great runner, when get out of himself. Kumerow is in Last edited on 2018-09-01 21:52:15 by Mücke |
