Maybe kind of a user rating could help with this. But yes, on top there is no good or bad playbook. It has to match your team, your opponent...

Let's not forget the luck factor either, over the past few days I've played 61 scrimmages with the same playbook and depth chart for each team and the average point difference was 15.9 with some games being won by up to 42 points.

Lets not forget the objectives either :

To help new managers and save (a lot) of time

All playbooks are changeable....it is the template/skeleton that is needed really more than the actual meat on the bones.

Even if someone does list a playbook as a 'Run Heavy' book, theres nothing to say that that cant be changed after uploading to suit more the personnel available if that Run Heavy book doesn't work - but at least the manager wont have to enter line after line after line of work - he would just need to change the Plays and Formations, knowing the basics are all there.

Even to our newbie friend who asked a question, having a template gives you some chance to adapt it to your team....without that template you are pretty much stuck to the default options which is not helpful at all.

+1 User rating would do

If this is implemented, as a long time HC new managers would have to choose between I attack your defense is up to you to stop me. Or I am a Coach that reacts against defenses presented... In this 2nd case standard PBs won't be to useful.

my fear would be that this could become a step back in terms of variety, which Pete seems to want to see more of in our PBs: what if we suddenly get multiple teams just using the same PB some elite team was willing to put up "for sale"?

and just think about that: 20 teams using the Landru PB, 45 using the Dragons PB, 60 using the Wadenbeißer PB... at that point we could just all use the same PB with some variation in game settings, because the effort to build your own PB would be for naught, if you can get the same result by just buying one.

and I have no idea how that transaction could work - how much is a really good PB worth? are we paying credits or ingame money? does the selling team get the full price? because I'd say it should be north of 300 Mill. for a really good PB. so if a teams is able to sell its PB to a few managers....

more PB work for managers was the trade off for the recent engine changes. and considering that makes the game more about playbook management and hours of editing, yes that is a tougher sell to new managers imo

maybe Pete could arrange a new Forum channel for PB discussions with the ability to share PBs - I think most managers would be sensible enough to only share Beta or rudimentary PBs compared to their gameday setup if there is no compensation at all

this would be more in line with IRL coaching reality: coaches are of course in contact and seek advice from another in tactical questions, but I dont think there are PBs sold for money in a legal way. and no coach should give up a universal, gameday ready SCRIPT, because that is what we are producing in the editor. we cant share plays and play-designs like coaches would IRL.

IRL a Playbook is the collection of available plays, in RZA we s e l e c t formations and run/pass + direction. what we can do is script situations, IRL the playcalling is still live of course. sry for stating the obvious
