Hi all,
I do not follow college football at all, but I noticed recent draft (well especially the last one ) had a trend of O-Linemen from this university getting drafted pretty high. NFL teams where in need of good linemen as we were (are ?) in a mini golden age of pass rushers (JJ Watt, Von Miller, Justin Houston, Demarcus Ware, Robert Mathis, Aldon Smith, Tamba Hali, Terrell Suggs and so on...) but there were some busts (see : 2013 Draft). So does anyone have an explanation for this ? |

I don't think there was a trend for guys from Notre Dame, next year i'm expecting to see more Badgers up there, guys stayed on in Wisconsin this year to finish what they started last year!

This was not a slam dunk year for O-linemen overall. This is the reason Nelson was the first lineman taken as a guard. His teammate, McGlinchey has been considered the best tackle prospect in the lead up to the draft especially after Brown had such a poor showing at the combine and his stock fell off a cliff.

there seem to be schools who teach what the NFL is looking for along the OL better than others though: Notre Dame with Hiestand (bears Oline coach now , Wisconsin, Iowa...

That's true for a lot of schools, especially at various positions throughout history. Right now, Florida State and Ohio State could be considered DB U. Alabama could be considered RB, DL, & LB U, etc. It's fun to see when a team can string together a lot of high-quality prospects together from single or multiple position groups.
