Ok I believe staying in 3.x for your first full season is absolutely the best option to go for. You can make balanced playbooks, figure out how to play the game and gain confidence in 3.x. I joined during the playoffs of season 8 (I wasnt in playoffs so I got to sit and watch). I did not take part in the bot flush and stayed in 3.x. After winning the 3.x bowl game I was promoted to 2.1 and again went to, and won, the 2.1 bowl game. I am now in 1.1 and so far staying somewhat competitive in my 3rd season.

My goal from the beginning was to be in the best division, and staying in 3.x for a full season to "iron out the wrinkles" has paid off a lot. I have several offensive playbooks, know how to formulate game plans (although I dont spend much time doing this), and I am enjoying getting my ass kicked most of the time in 1.1.

Stay in 3.x for a full season, but after that its best to start playing against tougher competition so you can actually start getting better. You will learn barely more from trashing a bot 150-0 as you will getting trashed by a 1.1 elite 70-0. Dealing with adversity and overcoming it is what makes you better.

I entered the game in Week 9 of last season. In week 6 of this season, I started construction on the north and south stands to finish my stadium.

I choose to do both, and forgo the extra income for my next league game, so I could get this behind me.

I am checking out the head coaches now.

Would a 85 CP or so Head Coach be a good choice? I know there are various opinions how to go about a head coach, just looking for some input.

I had a friendly against a 1.1 team today. Only lost 38-0, so that is some improvement.

If you plan to hire some 80+ CP Assistant Coaches then yes.

my own HC has 86 CP ... so not too bad if you use ACs in the same region and don't meet financial problems

HA!

I know this is an OLD thread, but since I am the original poster, kinda nice to see how I progressed the first time around.

Pete, thanks for updating the start. I did notice that players start with better P.C. and the stadium is slightly better.

You will find more things helping new managers. Please give some feedback compared to your former career start, once you are here again for a while

Just the first game was a big difference. I had the auto reset for player positions a little before my first game. My new quarterback did pretty well against another new player's team. I remember that passes was not going to happen with the starting quarterbacks.

I accepted a friendly from a stronger player tomorrow, and while I expect to get destroyed 122-0, it will be nice getting the income from the friendly. Getting destroyed isn't a problem, since I am visiting his field, and will get a better payday than if I hosted any game.

Unfortunately, it looks like the other players in my division are 1 and done, so I may not have any healthy competition until playoff season.

If you're worried about having to face BOT teams all season long, you should take a look at this thread

LOL!

I found the team I used to manage, and challenged them to a friendly!
