My LB coach is my highest rated coach at 80. Generally, I have all of my players as LB and train Tackling, Vision, Positioning. Once I have figured out what position each player is going to play, I will change their position and train Catching or Carrying (for instance).

Here's my question and hopefully some of you Math wiz's can help me out. At what coaching level is it more advantageous to just leave them as LB?

Say, I have a lineman and I'm ready to train Footwork. So, I would switch them to OL or DL whichever has the highest coach level and take advantage of the specific training. But what if those coaches are in the 50s or 60s? Would it be better to leave them as LB since his level is 80?

Same question for a RB/FB or WR/TE since carrying & catching are primary skills.

As a rule of thump you get with a level 80 coach double the progress as with no coach.
With level 60 it's 50% more than no skill.

Now comes the trick: If you train a skill on your highest coach which is not supported, he trains the skill as there is no coach.
-> as long as no other skill is needed to be trained in the supported area, a shift is always best.
Also keep in mind that the out-of-position-penality does hurt if he plays in addition.

I keep it that way: Train the supported skills as long as possible on your best and once he has to play starter or regular backup, switch. Normally he should be in a very high value area on his primaries anyway at that point.

Yes, I knew that for main team. I guess I didn't specify that I was asking about Youth Academy players. (Skill points = The percentage out of (random 25:40 + Teamwork + AC-CP-Formula)/2 / 100)

It works the same way. A Youth Academy player set as a LB will not get the coaching boost for Passing for example.

So stick to your current method, train their physicals plus vis/pos under the LB coach, then switch to a relevant coach to train them for the more specific role once you've decided their final team position.
