If you read the Manual (and maybe my guide) and eventually get a Mentor you should be able to make smart decisions after a few days or weeks. The situation you did describe can only happen if you avoid all the Knowledge sources.

I strongly like the idea. I hope Pete has enough time to give it a try.
I feel a "too deterministic" effect in player development, especially in the Youth Academy, while in real life there are more "out of the game" effects in the career of a player.
