Thunder Outsiders - S34 League Weekly - 2nd Edition

We start this week with our semi-regular guest column.

Interesting Titbits From Around the League
Written by football reporter dumpling
Thunder 1 - Impressive Result of the Day
Basterds 17 Granville Skunks 27
What a result for the Skunks !!!
This wasn't a lucky smash and grab for the Skunks - oh no this was a controlled balanced win that should send warnings to the rest of the NC conference.
Skunks had more Total Yds, Rushing Yds, Passing Yds, Time of Possession and better 3rd down conversion %
Built on the foundations of a balanced playbook (43 rushes and 35 pass attempts) and despite losing the turnover battle the Skunks look like they will be a force to be reckoned with for the foreseeable future. Look out Australorps because your next game is gonna be tough.

Thanks for that delightful nugget again dumpling. We then move on to the "NO BS" reviews of the week in:

The Quick & Dirty

Thunder 2 review
* Comanches used 93 (!) plays to beat the Dragons in a classic display of the "keep opposing QB off the field"-strategy
* Vicious Attack Dogs balanced offense with over the top threats continues to impress
* Alligators barely squeezed a win out at home against a BOT. Yikes part 2!

Thunder 1 review
* We spotted it here first and called it in week 1: basterds are past their prime and on the way down!
* Kokomo Mantis self-proclaimed early demise seemed ridiculous following this 51-12 destruction of Inbhir Narann
* LM Pirates underwhelmed against a BOT. Doesn't look like a great season ahead for them.
* Rome Centurions has game of the week, come of the back and play of the week in 37-34 win over the heart broken Valiant Pinoys.
* Centurions canceled a 34-17 lead by Valiant Pinoys in the 4th quarter.
* The winner was a 61 yard (!) rush in the last minute of the game!
* For Valiant Pinoys this must have been a tough loss but they got the two Tigers to look forward to get healthy again
* Thunder Bolts and Wolflings was predicted game of the week last week and they duly delivered: 38 - 34 game where Wolflings scored an unlikely 21 points in the 4th quarter only to still come up short for a win.

daithimt's Thunder 2 previews
Following the praise we heaped on Thunder 2 last week we continue to hold the spotlight there. We want to let everyone know about the excellent preview (and review) series daithimt has been writing up so far in Thunder 2. It is very well written and you can easily see the intimate knowledge he has of Thunder 2 teams which adds greatly to the appeal of said previews. An example of today's games can be found here.
Well done daithimt, you are much appreciated in Thunder 2 circles!

Well that is it for this week. Next week in Thunder 2 we have Dublin Dragons @ Vicious Attack Dogs to look forward to (although it does feel Dogs will own this from the start somehow) and in Thunder 1 will closely follow Cougars vs Jimmy GQ's Jockstraps as we feel in our little toe this has big game potential.

For now, good luck with your play books and training regimes!

Your intrepid reporter Cheesehead

I do love these reports but I do have one question.

You do Thunder 2, Thunder 1 but why no Thunder Elite?

We're all Thunder forever

This guy (daithimt) is going to be a terrifying manager to go against in the future.

Maybe you are right - but actually there is no real reason as the DC is as strong as last year in general.
Hopefully this is just my few down weeks per season happening usually in the PO
