At every play RZA engine picks from the playbook the correct rule and after goes to the depth chart in order di define the players lineup on the field.
This for offense, for defense in addition the engine decide if adapt the prefer from pass to rush or vece versa. For the whole match one playbook vs one depth chart. Imagine if would be possibile for every playbook rule link it to a specific depth chart. so for the whole match we would have one playbook vs many depth charts. The engine once it picked the playbook rule should pick he correct depth chart before as usual define the players lineup. Suppose to have at disposal three depth charts for the whole match. (one of the three must be set as default depth chart). Example: we could play with (dc= depth chart) - 1st half dc, 3q dc, 4q dc (or) - main dc, pass long dc, rush short dc (or) - main dc lead dc, behind dc (or) - main dc 3rd down pass dc 3rd down rush dc all possibile situation allowed by playbook rules can be coverd. In this way we can try to have our best players (first string) when we really need them, or let play more their backups in case for example if you are leading by 21+. We could put on the field our best QB/WR duo on 3rd down pass situations. We can develop players with a specific task as example a RB STR=50 and SPE=40 to be used only in short rushing plays ... I think the purpose is clear enough only your fantasy is a limit... As usual only Pete knows the effort from the point of view of coding... what do you think? Is it only a crazy idea? The game management will be pretty harder (which is not necessarily a bad thing). It seems logical (and realistic as well) to use backups or specialized players depending on game situations. I like the idea.

This is the reason why I proposed to leave a default depth chart.
In this way use more than a depth chart would be an option. |

I love this idea! I don't think it would be crazy hard to code as it's just one additional parameter that than results in a differnt DC being used for computations that were already gonna happen.
Perhaps Pete can implement a test using the friendly engine first. |

I am afraid this is not possible with the current scheme the engine is running. We load the DCs before the start, and they are fix during a match. So, the engine does not pick from the DC, but from a mapped DC which is fix.

Ah ok, then indeed it's not an easy fix.

I like the idea to choose specific players for specific plays:
Choose the blitzing LB Blocking back for pass plays Preferred passing target Choose, if FB or HB runs Give the backups more playing time, when leading with x points etc. Is there any option to implement some of these features easily? |
