It would be possible in the game log adding for every play if the defense expected a pass or a rush?
If the information is hidden on purpose, or if the effort in coding is too high or if in the past the same request was already rejected I apologize and please do not consider the present suggestion.

thanks pj

If I understood correctly there is no pass/rush expectation factored into the calculation, only the formation matters.

So facing a given formation and situation whether you choose 344 pass or 344 run the calculation will be exactly the same.

I didn't understand.
Suppose Offense formation A against defensive formation B
If you pass from A and I chose to use B formation preferred pass I expect to have an advantage compared the situation in which I chose B formation preferred rush.
As you know the defense is adaptative too.
So I would have liked know play by play how may times my defense was correct in the evaluation. (answer pass vs passing play and rush vs rushing plays). Of course this is a private information and not public.

Yeah I thought that's how it worked too until Pete clarified a few years back.

If the O picks Formation X pass and the D picks Formation Y rush the calculation is the same as if the O picks Formation X pass and the D picks Formation Y pass.

The pass/rush thing in the D playbook only helps determine the formation the D will use, there is no bonus (or penalty) to guessing pass or rush.

I think I understood your point but please help me to understand....
(I am not against your opinion, just want to understand)

Offense Formation X
I see scouting your games that you use X on Q1 and you always pass and you use X on Q2 and you always run.
I set my defensive playbook like this
Q1 X vs Y preferred pass
Q2 X vs Y preferrred rush

you are sayng there is no difference and I waste my time trying to guess when you will pass or rush?

So I can put only one rule
1st half X vs Y preferred whatever?

I'm saying that only the formation matters, so if you know a pass is coming play 3-1-7 and if you know a run is coming play 5-3-3.

thanks very much for your feedback.
if it is really like this I can say I have been playing for two years RZA having totally misunderstood how it works a big part of the game...

Some clarification needed

Image, you have a rule

when opponent plays Shotgun 4WR
expect pass
pass defend formation: 3-3-5
rush defend formation: 4-3-3

First play happens:
"expect pass" setting kicks in

result: you defend using your passin defenders
on field play is a rush play
rushcounter: 1
passcounter: 0

Second play happens:
"expect pass" setting kicks in

result: you defend using your passin defenders
on field play is a rush play
rushcounter: 2
passcounter: 0

Third play happens:
"expect rush" setting kicks in, due the rush counter

More clear now?

Yes! thanks a lot Pete and Meitheisman

Reading your example (do not ask me why ) clarified me the Meitheisman statement
"The pass/rush thing in the D playbook only helps determine the formation the D will use, there is no bonus (or penalty) to guessing pass or rush."

My example was
Offense X vs pass Y run Y prefer pass (no blitz)

like when opponent plays Shotgun 4WR
expect pass
pass defend formation: 4-4-3 (no blitz)
rush defend formation: 4-4-3 (no blitz)

If you run my defense formation is 4-4-3 but I expected pass (wrong prediction)
If you run again my defense formation is 4-4-3 but I expected pass (wrong prediction)
If you run again my defense formation is 4-4-3 the engine adapts now the defense expect rush (right prediction)

I thought that the math were someway in advantage for the offense in the first two plays and in advantage for the defense in the last.
