Which is the best day to download the draft file.csv, between Rollover and Draft day 1 (players get older on rollover) ?

Also, how much time is it required to sort the draft, therefore when should it be downloaded at the latest ?

I normally download it within a week of it coming out, just cuz I want to see the players on it. I add a year on to their ages and randomly poke at it throughout the season when i'm bored.

I usually do the work 1-2 weeks before rollover, since before that the draft position is not clear and if I would have, like this year, the 1st pick, why bother sorting 30+ players, when just 3 (before each round 1 player) are needed, and after rollover the time frame is just too short for me, in case my draft position needs 30+ players to sort.

The age is not a big factor, just remember they will age 1 year when the draft happens, if you download it before the rollover.

Time required so sort the players depends om you methods of analysis, your draft style and the amount of time you put into the players for scouting and evaluating.

Also it depends on your draft position and you inner, let's call it, Vampire, means which kind of drive you might have of having ALL players, SOME players or even NO players sorted and commended in the list. An ultimate Vampire would sort everything.

I downloaded the file on 16 March, draft sorted by POS and AGE.

The draft board says "Without taking playoffs into account, it seems you are drafting with picks: 32, 64 and 96".

So, I have to spend some time to s e l e c t the 32nd player nobody wants to draft ?

You s e l e c t 32 projected and after the rollover you get the final position as far as I know. But the projection is quite OK I think, especially if you won the league.

Picking 32nd means you pick 32nd.
That does not mean you have to sort the players to the point on which you have the 32nd players nobody wants.
Usually the needs of teams are so different that this 32nd selected player is NOT the player you did eventually sort at 32nd place.
Often it is actually the 5th to 15th player on your list. Sometimes even the 1st player on your list.

The thing is, you need to sort them, based on your criteria.
If that's only age and position, you might be finished fats, but you might also get not the player you might wanted or needed. It's even hard to get a useful players when putting in a lot of scouting, so likely a simple sort will not help. Lucky picks can of cause happen.

Some do sort on top based on physicals, since those are more or less fixed. Some do sort on INT, some on TW on top, some do sort based on mathematical weight functions, like STR = 50 -> 100 points, STR = 45 -> 50 points, STR = 40 -> 0 points and then they add the different skills and traits and so on, so they have at the end some sort of single number to work with.

At the end you have some sort of sorted player list and the algorithm does s e l e c t the player for accourding the rules (see my guide and the manual please) and if your 1st player on the list is still available on 32nd pick, then you get your 1st sorted player.

Basically in theory, all have to do the same job, but because there are only 3 rounds and you can now (at the start all 3 rounds were on 1 night) change the sortings between the rounds, the 32nd pick manager has to prepare better or more then the manager at 1st pick.

I pick 1st this season. All I had to do a few minutes ago was to download the sheet again, and sort the best player available based on my criteria at 1st place.
That did took less time than writing this post.
But the 32nd pick manager has not that luck.

When i'm in that position, picking at 32nd, I do sort something like 30+ to 50+ players before the 1st round and when 2nd round comes, between 10 and 30 players on those spots are left and I might need to sort some more players, or not, usually 10+ players more, if feasible, which means, if I see only rubbish as players, I skip the sortings, they won't make the team and they will likely not get much attention on the market. If at least good players are left, but not fitting in my team, I do sort based on market chances.
