We can discuss keeping players, but no matchorders, DC or playbook. However, this causes issues...if a team goes bot in Elite or D1, and relegates, it would be a certain issue for newer teams. This is exactly the reason why we reset the whole team including players once the team becomes bot.

I'm not sure what the issue would be for newer teams in this scenario but could we not just drop the Elite or D1 teams via bot flush to Div 2 regardless of relegation?

Under the current system we still have the possibility of an Elite or D1 going bot after winning enough games to stave off relegation.

So I'm not clear if there is a difference between these two possibilities.

It seems to me that keeping the old players until the bot is flushed out of Elite or 1.1 at season end, or taken over by a new person in D2 is the only option.
You can't flush mid-season unless you suggest flushing another team up that inherits the old teams win/loss record.
You can't hand elite players to a new person with a new 11100 seat stadium, they wouldn't be able to afford them, they would have to sell them immediately so it's just free money.

Yeah, that was my suggestion. Not relegating mid-season or anything. Just keeping the players until the end of the year or until a new player takes the team.

If scrubbing players at the end of the year is an issue, I'd say just let the bot keep all the players then. If the bot does poorly enough to get relegated, then they shouldn't be any harder for new teams to handle then a human player who gets relegated. If a bot does well enough to not relegate, then they should probably stay up where they are. Then you would only scrub players when a human user took over the team (which I think happens anyhow.

So effectively, just don't scrub the players on a team that goes bot. I think that would solve all the issues mentioned.

I think bots should still be flushed down at season end regardless of what position they finish, i don't want bots taking up positions that humans could have in elite and d1. I agree leaving their players til the end of the season is a good idea.

The problem is Pete said flushing the players at the end of the season is a no go. Flushing an 80 rated team down to Div 2 is probably worse then having an inactive team (with good players) in Div 1.

Yeah, D2 teams wouldn't like that! Stays as it is then, without the playbook it's 99.9% they'd still lose anyway and one teams bad luck is another teams good luck, glass half full and all that.

I think my suggestion was misunderstood. It was not to flush mid-season. That would make no sense at all. I was agreeing with you, but also trying to understand what Pete's objections were to keeping the bot team afloat until just before season end and then dropping it down.

I don't think bots should be kept in the division (i.e. not relegated) and then scrubbed before handing to new players. This would only get the newbies an even bigger beating than if they took over a team in 2.2

I think we are on the same page. It seems like Pete's big issue is scrubbing players at the end of the season.

Can we just scrub them after the season roll-over, but before the first game of the season?

The issue is that it can be somewhat game breaking as is.
