The latest discussion "Bots taking over 2.x" guided me to this aged but golden suggestion created 2 years ago. Feel free to share your experiences with bot games and join the discussion mentioned above.

ok, its time to reanimate this suggestion. Why? Because bot games creating nearly non-competition in 2.x leagues and tremendous skewness regarding WL ratio and/or PD stats in 1. leagues. We need more balanced and challenging competition in League and Super-Cup games badly.

"We" 've got stuck,

when pete once wrote:
We can discuss keeping players, but no matchorders, DC or playbook. However, this causes issues...if a team goes bot in Elite or D1, and relegates, it would be a certain issue for newer teams. This is exactly the reason why we reset the whole team including players once the team becomes bot.

No matter which way we go down this road...we will run into certain issues soon.

Ok, lets go, keep players until season rollover. Check!

regarding "...but no matchorders, DC or playbook. ..." :

Meanwhile a lot of grateful improvements have been added to this game. On of them is the "All Star Challange" addition.

It seems that the code that sets up the "All Star Virtual Team" looks like the perfect blue print to create more competitive bot teams as well, doesnt it? Please make use of it for human managed teams that go bot during season.

btw, well done Pete, keep on rocking the Code.

The managers board (newbies and veterans) appreciates the creation of competitive match-ups and the overall prevention of screwed up seasons by bot games. Done properly, this one has potential to become another flagship of RZA.

Furthermore:

At season rollover, after Bot Flush, please reset Bot teams DC (Depth Chart) in the way that the Overall Players Strength of each Bot Team match to the Avg Overall Strength of Human managed Teams of the respective league,
+- 5% Overall Strength by random for instance.

Bot teams should be able to make use of Free Agency players pool (transfermarket or players database behind) at season rollover to accomplish the DC reset task mentioned in the paragraph above.

Bot teams should be able to keep their players in shape (PC) and train skill sets during the season for at least a minor level of progress.

Bot teams should be able to pick the alleged best player available in drafts.

Drafted players should be kept by the Bot team for the season the player was drafted.

Some thoughts (dont know if its done or meant already):

Human managed Teams that go Bot during a season should be prevented from getting a new human manager within the same season. In other words: Once Bot took over, Bot should stay in charge for the rest of the season.

New Managers should always get spawned into the lowest league of the region of their choice.

I have ready

I was enabling a change right now. We will keep players at their teams once a manager gives up his team. Since those teams have no coaches, playbooks, depth charts, even no so called match tactic...they will still behave like bot teams. In lower leagues not much would change, and in higher leagues the overall strength of such a bot team is just a little bit more strong than before the change. However, the issue of such an "Elite Bot" going down to 2.x is still there, but we will see how this goes. In my opinion the "bot tactics" penalty is strong enough to keep human managers alive in 2.x...

Does this mean that Bot players on the Roster will never become Free Agents as well?

They become free agents at the moment a new owner signs this team.

Like
First of a couple of steps into right direction.

Keeping players beyond season rollover wasnt the intended target, but ok, sounds good, time will tell how this works out.

Alternative idea, if the new approach becomes a problem in 2.x leagues:
keep the players until next rollover only.

Pete, pls help me out, what does "a little bit more" mean by using this example: The overall strength of a manager`s team is 70%. He decides to give up the team. The team goes bot.

Before the change: The overall strength goes down to ~ 39%

After the change: The overall strength is ~ ?

Is it planned to activate the mechanics that are in use for the All-Star-Virtual-Team for Bot Teams too?

Dont you think it is time to get rid of the "bot tactics" penalty at all?
