Incredible pro day puts German Moritz Boehringer on NFL radar
He never played on a high level compared to america, but his physical skills are incredible. The big question would be how well can he perform against NFL DB without experience on a high level. I watched a best-off 2015 video and many times he never faced press coverage and could out play german defensers just by screen passes and speed. |

He looks like an intriguing prospect. The pass catchers in this draft class aren't the athlete that he is. His size/speed combination is rare. I agree, it's tough to rate him as a player from the tape that's available.

Moritz Böhringer played in the 2014 season for the Crailsheim Titans. They are playing in the 7th German Football League. In the 2015 season he came to the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns. They are playing in the GFL, which is the highest German Football League. The Unicorns he has rightly found immediately and quickly became a starter, although the Unicorns (current German vice-champion) are a very strong passing team.
I as a fan of Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns am looking forward to the first German WR in the NFL. I think he will have no problems in each team and each team that will take him, will be very pleased with him. I wish him much success. |

That is just Marketing, in my opinion. The NFL "looks" at players born in overseas, and looks for US-players who played overseas. Donald Russell, former RB of the Dresden Monarchs, is such an example. The Packers are "looking" at him.
So again, I think there is Marketing in here. It is the same style of Marketing that causes the London games, that cause the idea of having NFL-games in Germany as well. I hope being completely wrong with this...doing Marketing based on players dreams is somehow...wrong |

Teams are allways looking at the diamonds in the rough (Basketball Players: Antonio Gates or Julius Thomas anyone) and if the potential is there, they will give him a chance. I think he will be drafted on the 3rd day and stay at least one year at the teams practice squad |

With interest for American Football abroad slowly but steadily increasing over the past decade+ I hope that we'll eventually end up with way more foreign players in the league. It'd be fun to watch guys from different countries play in the NFL but I feel Pete's cynical comment is also somewhat true, there seems to be a bit of marketing going on. Anyway, I wish this German guy, and other foreigners, good luck trying to make an NFL roster

I don't really watch or know too much about the sport so tell me this. How much do these physical tests actually translate into being good players? I don't see almost any sport outside of the USA doing these and putting such weighting on stats.

A lot! If as a WR you can't run a 4.3 or 4.4 example than a lot of teams will be very hesitant to take you. There is the tape of course but in this case that cannot be used as the level is so much lower than college or NFL so for this guy these tests are a make or break exercise.
