I'm enjoying watching the first Draft I've ever seen!

This was the craziest thing to watch live. He was being interviewed by NFL Network and they asked him about his background, how he got into football after watching a youtube video of Adrian Peterson and why the Vikings are his favorite team. Mike Mayock then spoke into the camera, addressing coach Zimmer and 10 minutes later the Vikings are selecting him. It was one of the most surreal sequences I've seen during any draft.

That is just Marketing, in my opinion. The NFL "looks" at players born in overseas, and looks for US-players who played overseas. Donald Russell, former RB of the Dresden Monarchs, is such an example. The Packers are "looking" at him.

So again, I think there is Marketing in here. It is the same style of Marketing that causes the London games, that cause the idea of having NFL-games in Germany as well.

I hope being completely wrong with this...doing Marketing based on players dreams is somehow...wrong

You're probably right, I'm pretty sure that phone call was staged. But it's still a good thing.

This is really a cinderella story of modern football history. I think the Vikings made a pretty good move. Boehringer might be raw, but he has talent and is willing to learn and to work hard. He is not a spoild kid and will give every thing to earn plays in the NFL.
The first year he will be a special teams player. May be he could be also play KR. In 2-3 years he could be the 3rd or 4th WR on the roster.

No, it is not, yet! Let's see if it is more than marketing. Hopefully he can make it into the roster

Not saying this will happen to him, but a non-us-Player in Football you have to be much better than your competitor to get a roster spot. And there are several other things which will be different for him. Lockerroom behaviour, competion inside the Team, non Football culture and so on. This is big splash and this positon is very hard fought. If he would have been a liner I think his chances would have been better.

Why should he not be eligable?
In the past there were some German practice squad members never making a Team.

There are ulterior motives here, friend. Ulterriorrr motivvvves.

Who couldn't use a 6'4" wideout with 4.43 speed? Nobody, that's who.
