Don't call him the head because I cannot see there is something like a brain involved in his actions

Isnt this similar to many people having the label "head"? "head of department xy"...

Germany, Spain or France.

Italy is a shadow of its former self. England appears young and hungry, I'd rate them better than in previous tournaments, when average players, such as Rooney, were declared world-class players by the local press. I cannot see Belgium win it, despite some talent. Croatia is my dark horse.

Being German myself, I'm biased. Saying we don't have the class of former tournaments isn't true. Most world champions are still on board. If anything our players matured since 2014, however we haven't found our rythm yet, but this we will traditionally achieve within the tournament.

Sad but true.
Anyway we Italians are well trained in being underevaluated, but we come out with outstanding performances when anyone else gives us for lost.
I think that in few hours we will know if we will disappear silently, or there is still something Italy can say in this European Cup.

Who does Italy have up front? Super Mario has fissled and isn't on the NT anymore right?

Anyone watching the Copa America? Brazil was eliminated with a 1-0 loss to Peru....Peru scoring on what looked like a hand ball!

Since yesterday evening : Giaccherini and Pellè
What I saw yesterday is that a team of mediocre players won above 11 champions.
This is again the demostration that soccer is a team sport and the team spirit is more valuable than the single talents, even if often is not enough.

Now the hard thing to do is to fly down, since we won nothing but a single game and the road onward is tough.
Another characteristic of Italian soccer teams is the excessive enthusiasm and the overconfidence out of a single episode added to the awful habit to be concentrated with strong teams and stupid with weak ones.
Yesterday we understood we can do it, now we have to demostrate it.

Forza Italia !!!

Fair enough. I stand corrected. I don't know whether I was more disappointed by Belgium or impressed by Italy. The Italians defended as good as ever, and if the team continues to show this kind of morale and team spirit, they will be a team hard to beat.

This is what drives you mad about Belgium....so much talent individually but yet (so far) no Coach has been able to get them to perform on the big stage as a team. They looked so disjointed and narrow last night.....as well as Italy played, Belgium played right into their hands and strengths.

Still, id not write them off just yet and if they can click, they could give someone the pasting of their lives!

That said, Italy were superb and put in the performance of the tournament so far. I hope they can maintain that level of play.

No wide players so we can't use 4231 and 442 diamond and 433 don't work. Pre tournament passing has been pathetic and Wayne Rooney who has not only been poor last season but has never done or achieved anything at a finals trophy and clearly wants to pay as a striker and nowhere else

hmm to me the 433 has worked way better for england then the 442 we have seen for ages, they are way less predictable and do have the fast attackers to play a 433 and dont have to rely on rooney. his usage against russia in more of a midfield role and the very offensive game plan in general have been really smart I think. and they played a great first half, should have scored more, that late equalizer was totally unecessary though. they are not a favourite, but not too far behind the top nations. no team is perfect on the international level, not even the biggest nations with the largest talent pools. the trick might be to stay flexible and to make the best use of the pieces you have - like italy does year in year out... englands clinging to the 442 has cost them a lot of success imo.

still trying to get over austrias performance today. that was the kind of dissapointment we have become used to in years past, but we always had really bad managers, no talent, and under marcel koller austria finally gained some respectability, we have an awesome player with alaba and some good guys around him. and then we give away the most important of our group games, the must win, like this...

Well, it did not only look like a hand ball, the ball was literally knocked in like it was a different sport at all. Maybe the most disgusting goal to decide an important game since Diego Maradona's "hand of god".

And the referees even discussed some minutes and were still not able to make the right decision...

However, the Brazilian team is not what it used to be, they played very disappointing in those two games, if you leave the easy cruising victory against Haiti out, which somehow doesn't count. With so many gifted and strong brazilian players all over the world playing in different leagues, it is astonishing that they are not able to put up a better squad than that.
