1. Gameday (05.08.2016)
Mombasa Lions @ Amersfoort Alligators
-> Game
-> Score: 20:0 (ruled)
The headline could be more embarrassing than this: SEASON STARTS WITH A FRAUD!
In the season opener of the LEATHERHEAD-LEAGUE it became very fast quite clear that the Alligators were not well prepared.
In fact the team come onto the field and celebrated a game which can only be described as "shocking".
What was the coach thinking sending his team to play in such manners?
We only missed clown costumes to have a perfect clown performance.
The official must have been nuts to let that game run the whole distance, the commissioner did step in and ruled the game in favor of the Lions with a score of 20-0.
He also decided to keep the statistics as played, which means that Jeron Donaldson of Mombasa got a great deal of points towards the rushing crown.
After the game did the Alligators apologize for the behavior of their players and made it clear that their team will from now on play by the rules.
According to some fan insights (29196 fans were in the stadium), the visitors had fun and ask for rule changes to allow such gameplay in every game, which the commissioner did reject as "new age mumpitz".

Carrickfergus Knights @ AS Roma Wolves
-> Game
-> Score: 7:3
When 2 teams do meet as good as the Wolves and the Knights, it's clear we would not see an offensive firework.
With defenses as hard as steel and gruesome as a pack of predators only can be, the game carried into the 3rd quarter without a single point on the scoreboard.
The Knights were unlucky with their 1st field goal try, Gabriel Sandokhadze missed from 54 yard in the 1st quarter.
In the second quarter did Gulom Azizov fumble the football, but was able to recover the ball immediately.
So the teams went into the half with 0-0 on the scoreboard.
In the 3rd were the Wolves defender Bohumil Koudelka able to scoop up a fumble, but was not able to return it and the following drive concluded only into a field goal.
With the Wolves 3-0 in front they became sloppy and fumbled the ball in the 4th quarter, Jitu Ironsi recovered it for the Knights, but neither was he able to return it, nor was the offense able to score points out of this.
Another missed field goal, this time from 36 yards, was all the team was able to get.
The fans were angry.
Jitu Ironsi must have felt that, because later he get another fumble in hand and ran it to the house!
Knights up from 7-3 and the Wolves did mobilized all they had.
Under a minutes to play did the Wolves miss a field goal themselves, which made the Roma fans mad.
"A field goal try? For what? To lose 7-6".
The management of Roma has not issued a statement so far.
For the statistic nerds: 32843 fans overall in the stadium.

Landru Athletics @ Midnight Marauders
-> Game
-> Score: 3:9
When you have 32967 visitors on your season opener, you just want an exciting game.
To lower your expectations, we only saw field goals on that day, what boy, they were crucial.
The Marauders were able to kick one from 61 yards in the first, taking the lead and when the Athletics did drop the ball in their own red zone in 2nd quarter, the stadium went wild.
Three plays later the Marauders had settle for another field goal, from 38 yards out, thanks to a motivated defense.
With 6-0 for the Marauders they went into the locker rooms at the half and when the game was going beginning of the 3rd quarter, the Athletics did drop the ball, again.
This time it looked the clock would strike Midnight, but thanks to a last effort in the redzone the Athletics did again force a field goal try from 28 yards out.
Like that effort did motivate the Landru team, it went on offense over the whole field until they reached the red zone and scored an answering field goal from 36 yards out.
The return of the Athletics?
Unfortunate for them, no.
Both teams went back and forth on offense, but were never able to score again until the game ended 9-3 in favor of the Marauders.

Rabaul Jacanas @ Maykop Dynamos
-> Game
-> Score: 0:13
When the game ended, most of the 32834 visitors were on the same page, stating that the first play did decide the game.
Jacanas did kick off and Dynamos Joe Valdes returned the ball for 98 yards and a Touchdown.
Boom!
Later in the 1st quarter were the Dynamos able to chip in a field goal from 46 yards, as result from a battle for field position and a few nice plays.
In the 2nd quarter were the Dynamos able to break that typical 3-and-out-rythm and went for a long drive and sealed it with a field goal from 28 yards out.
From that moment on, the game became a defense dominated game with no additional scores.
The Dynamos got themself a 13-0 shutout win in the first week.

Firenze Fappers @ Guinness Drinkers United
-> Game
-> Score: 7:3
The management of both teams were close to call the game off when all 32426 fans did see in the first 3 quarters basically a brawl for field position.
Small hope came up when the Fappers did fumble the ball and the Drinkers recovered it on Fappers 39 yard line.
But they were pushed back for 3 yards and obviously nobody was desperate enough to try a 59 yard field goal, so another punt was kicked.
Fast forward to the 4th quarter, when the Fappers did fumble, again.
Drinkers recovered on the Fappers 43 yard line and had one good play, finishing the drive with a 54 yard field goal, taking the 3-0 lead.
Over?
Almost.
The opponents did exchange the ball through punt plays for some time, until the Drinkers did fumble 15 seconds before the end on 1st down.
The Fappers did return the rock to the house and did win the game 7-3.
Back luck for the Drinkers.
Rumors are, the Guinness reserves were lost over the weekend, causing a worldwide shortage for the beer, but at least the player seemed to have forgotten the gruesome weekend.

Leverkusen Leopards @ OrangeCrush
-> Game
-> Score: 15:7
The game started good and became one of the high scoring games over the weekend.
32634 visitors came to the stadium and saw a nice kickoff return from the Leopards, which resulted after a short drive in a 50 yard field goal.
A bad punt from OrangeCrush resulted in another good field position and another field goal (again 50 yards) after a few plays.
After that the game became a defense battle until another great return in the 2nd quarter did give the Leopards another opportunity to score (35 yard field goal).
The teams went into the half with a 9-0 lead for the Leopards.
Beginning of the 3rd quarter the Leopards were able to make enough plays to get again in field goal range and went 12-0 ahead (another 50 yarder).
A bit later did the Leopards fumble the ball and OrangeCrush recovered it at the Leopards 42 yard line, but at the end they were unable to score.
In the fourth quarter came the most exciting plays of the game.
OrangeCrush had 1st down on their own 32 when they fumbled. Ouch!
Leopards came from the sideline and played their 1st down on OrangeCrush 29 yard line when THEY fumbled! OUCH!
Eckhardt Müller of OrangeCrush collected the ball and went 71 yards to the house to make the game a closer one, Leopards leading 12-7.
Unfortunate for OrangeCrush did the Leopards not let the game go and held the opponent to a few plays, forcing punt after punt until the team got desperate and went for 4th down to stay in the game.
With about 3 minutes to go on 4th and 10 they run for 6 yards and gave that way the ball to the Leopards on the 22 yard line.
Few plays later a 40 yard field goal made it again a 2 position lead for 15-7, which was also the final score.

Basterds @ BobBoy Magpies
-> Game
-> Score: 2:10
Early in the 1st quarter were the Magpies able to recover a fumble and to convert it into points.
Just a field goal, but still a 3-0 lead.
Basterds on the other side were NOT able to use a recovered fumble to tie the game or even taking the lead.
The game went into 2nd quarter and the teams did try to get good field positions, punting and returning after every few plays and with under 3 minutes to play, the Basterds were able to sink a punt to the opponent’s 1 yard line.
A play later did the Basterds score a safety and the teams left for the half with a 3-2 lead for the Magpies.
After the halftime were the Magpies able to get a descend drive going and sealed it with a TD, extending the lead to 10-2.
After that it was all defense and the game ended with the 10-2 score.
Stat-Nerd-Info: 32022 visitors.

2. Gameday (12.08.2016)
Rabaul Jacanas @ Landru Athletics
-> Game
-> Score: 0:33
The Athletics had something to prove when they came to play against the Jacanas.
And boy, did they play.
First blood was deawn after a controversal call of the Jacanas, going for it on 4th down on their own 27 yard line with 3 to go.
The Athletics did stop them and got the ball in exelent field position.
A few plays later a Field Goal was kicked and 32606 Fans started 'Booooooooooooooooooooooooooo'.
A few minutes later was another Field Goal kicked and the Athletics did lead 6:0.
The second quarter started and after a 4th and 5 on their own 10 yard line did Rabaul turn the ball again over on downs.
Lucky them their defense prevented a touchdown and the Athletics chipped for a 9:0 lead.
'BoooooooOoOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo' was heard from the ranks.
Not the last time.
Shortly before the half came another turnover on downs and another field goal did seal the bold playcalling.
And another 'BoooOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooOOOOOOOoooo' from the ranks until halftime was over.
The second half did go well for the Athletics, but since the Jacanas did not turn the ball over the ball was exchanged several times, until Landru was able to try another field goal, but missed it.
Next play did Rabaul fumble and the Athletics recovered the ball and a few plays later the first Touchdown was scored.
Now at 19:0 did Rabaul collapse slowly.
The Atlethics did miss another field goal try starting the 4th quarter and collected another fumble with 4 minutes to go, marched over the remaining 34 yards in a few plays and scored again.
'BoooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoo' was the comment from the stands at 26:0.
Over?
Not so fast.
After the kickoff return did Rabaul fumble againt on 2nd down and Landru did get the ball, again, this time directly to the house.
NOW it was over.
With 33:0 the teams did part, the fans were angry and the I think there were many players hearing the 'BoooOOOOoooOOOOoooOOOooo' for a long time.

Maykop Dynamos @ Basterds
-> Game
-> Score: 0:20 (ruled)
'Oh damn' was all the coach of the Maykop Dynamos had on his lips when he saw his players perform something barely reminding of football in the match against Basterds.
The 33254 confused spectators did see something forgettable, and the Besterds did their best to play according the rules, until the refs did show some guts and whistled the game to an end.
The commissioner did rule the game in favor of the Bestards and sanctioned the Dynamos to eat all of the complementary jelly, which was the game of the day sponsor.
ALL of the roughly 60.000 cups of jelly had to be eaten, and at least that did the team do well.
According to the local news did the team then call in sick for the next 3 days and did swear to never play in such fashion again.
The sponsor was upset over the ruling, stating 'jelly is no punishment!'
The commissioner answered 'Yes it is, obviously'.

Guinness Drinkers United @ Mombasa Lions
-> Game
-> Score: 0:20 (ruled)
'What do you expect from a team called Drinkers?' That first fan reaction was typical for the 30723 fans leaving the arena.
What happened?
When the national anthem was played it was clear the Guinness Drinkers United were 'intoxicated', or how else who you describe their behavior?
'Disgusting how they did moonlight the fans as a whole team DURING the anthem. Who would have guessed they would drop their pants and do THAT?'
Well, i can assure you, none one.
And it was not the last action.
Shortly before halftime did they all join for a polonaise, ask the fans to join and gave the cheerleaders quite direct signs for a proper halftime amusement.
The management did apologies after the game and explained it with 'the guys had to salute the day of the Hop yesterday and one thing lead to another one. It went out of control'.
Asking the management that the day of the Hop or Humulus does not exist, they answered 'really? Well, we will add that to the list for punishments'.
The commissioner did ask a urine and blood test prior next game and if an intoxication is found again, the team will be punished beyond the already announced one.
The announced punishment is, that no Guinness can be consumed by team members for the next 14 day.
Two team members had to be held back by force when they decided to quit after the announcement.
The home crowd went wild and answered with 'tough punishment. We will throw a party went the 14 days are over and drink all what was spared THEN in no time.'

Firenze Fappers @ BobBoy Magpies
-> Game
-> Score: 0:27
Fappers and Magpies came for business and only one team really was in the game.
With 31976 spectators in the ranks did the game start low and both teams were held scoreless in the first quarter.
Same story in the 2nd quarter, only that the Magpies were able to win slowly the field position battle and when the Fappers were force to punt from their own 1 yard line, the time of the kicker came.
With 13 ticks left on the clock did Ondrej Rak kick trough the upright and the Magpies went to the locker room with a 3:0 lead.
Then came the 3rd quarter and it became crazy.
The Fappers made their second offense play when the ball become lose and was returned for a TD by Teddy Speer.
Fine, 10:0 lead now.
A few drives later, again on 2nd down, another Fappers fumble, another Return-TD, this time by Samit Sharma.
OK, 17:0 lead. It looks dark now for the Fappers.
Under 3 minutes in the quarter left on 3rd and 10, another fumble and another Return-TD, Jeremy Gracia did dance in the endzone with his impressive body mass of a bear crossed with a giant bean bag.
The fans went out of control! 24:0!
The Fappers did everything they could, but they were unable to control the ball.
Another fumble in the 4th quarter was the first without a return, but near enough for a field goal, 27:0.
Later did the Magpies even miss a field goal try from 51 yards.
The final whistle seal the fate of the Firanze Fappers and made the fans sing the team song 'Magpies or death' over and over again.

Leverkusen Leopards @ Midnight Marauders
-> Game
-> Score: 3:14
The Marauders wanted to win that game against the leopards, for sure.
In a turnover driven game were the Midnight team able to find more of the lose balls than the Leverkusen team and therefore won the turnover barttle.
The 1st quarter remaind scoreless, thanks to a missed field goal by the Marauders, but in the 2nd quarter this changed.
A fatal fumble by FB Sebastian Bergmann was recovered and returned by Luther Moody for a TD and the lead for the Marauders was there.
32634 fans cheered until halftime.
In the 3rd quarter did the Leopard Kicker Constantin Wolff made a field goal to cut the lead to 7:3.
All looked good until Leopard Klemens Ziegelbrenner lost another football in their own red zone and Wilmer Bunker held onto it.
A few plays later did Midnight power themselves into the endzone for the 14:3 endscore.
This could have gone even further if not the kicker of the Marauders had miss a chip shot after another fumble recover inside the Leopard redzone in the 4th quarter.
The fans did not care, they did see a clear winning team and were happy about the win.

AS Roma Wolves @ Amersfoort Alligators
-> Game
-> Score: 9:3
AS Roma Wolves vs Amersfoort Alligators was under the microscope, since the Alligators got a scoring ruling in their first game.
So all 32432 visitors were happy to see a tough and fair playing Alligators team, keeping the Wolves from scoring in the 1st quarter, but were in the other side also held from scoring by the Wolves.
Defense fans were satisfied, offense fans were disappointed.
Alligators gave the Wolves a chance to score when they lost a fumble late in the 1st quarter, but they held the opponent in mid field and avoided a field goal try.
That came later, when they Wolves had a good drive beginning of teh 2nd quarter, sealed with mentioned 3 points.
Alligators were unable to answer and when the Wolves marched for several yards again later in the 2nd quarter and kicked another field goal, the Alligators were stunned.
With 6:0 the teams did split to the locker room.
Now in the 3rd quarter did the Wolves again had a good drive with a successful field goal try for the 9:0 lead.
Where are the Alligators?
Well, they were not really able to move the ball, but got a small Christmas present in the 4th quarter when they recovered a fumble and returned it 30 yards.
With a 1st down almost at the Wolves redzone they were able to get at least a field goal out of this, 2 minutes left in the game.
A great Roma return right after that scoring drive did bring the Wolves near the Alligators redzone and only a missed field goal try did prevent 3 additional points.
At the end did Roma win 9:3 and the Alligators can at least communicate that they did leave everything they had on the field.

Carrickfergus Knights @ OrangeCrush
-> Game
-> Score: 9:0
A game without many highlights, that's what the scoring-junkies of the 31635 spectators said after the final whistle.
Carrickfergus Knights and OrangeCrush did play hard nose football the whole game and the defense-enthusiastics had fun, I think.
In the 1st quarter they saw a first fumble by the Knights, recovered by the OrangeCrush, but the following drive remained scoreless, thanks to a missed field goal.
That fan who did catch the wide right shot still was happy.
He did keep the ball, even when he was ask to return it.
Later was OrangeCrush pushed to their own endzone and did punt from their 8 yard line, only to see a short punt and a good return to setup a Knights offense at the 26 yard line.
Crush did keep them from scoring a TD, but the field goal was good and the Knights had a 3:0 lead.
A few minutes later were the Knights able to get a decent drive together and marched over the field, yard for yard, but this time the field goal try was missed.
Thanks to the switched sides to 2nd quarter did the Knights kick against the same goal as OrangeCRush in the first and guess who did catch the 2nd missed field goal of the day?
Right, THAT guy again!
And he kept it, again!
One drive and a great punt return later were the Knights again in kicking position and this time they hit between the goal posts.
A 6:0 lead, and a recovered ball ....
The 3rd quarter was hard nose football again, both teams unable to move or to score, until they switch sides again and the game neared it end.
With under 2 minutes to play were OrangeCrush forced to go for it on 4th down and didn't made it, on their own 11!
The Knights did say thank you and played it save to secure the win, kicked a field goal on 4th down and won 9:0.
After the game was the fan catched by the police, even when he tried to climb an Oak near the stadium.
The Balls were returned and the fans was later quoted with 'I don't care about my balls, I just wanted to annoy those *peeeeeeeeeeeeeep* and it almost worked.'
The Police stated that there will be now charges against the guy, only the manager of OrangeCrush did cancel his season ticket, stating 'Stealing is not acceptable'.
The fans ask for a 'million dollar kick' on the next game, to have at least little excitement.

3. Gameday (19.08.2016)
Carrickfergus Knights @ Firenze Fappers
-> Game
-> Score: 10:6
The Fappers needed a win when they hosted the Knights.
On the other hand did the Knights try to exceed their unbeaten streak.
32016 visitors were bound to witness a nail biter.
It started as a defense battle with no real winner when mid of the 1st quarter the Knights were able to strip the rock and return it to the house.
Fappers fans went wild, while the Knights fans started the party.
But the host did fight back and made it at the end of the quarter to the opponents’ 40 yard line and pushed forward.
When they switched sides the Knights were able to prevent a first down and forced a field goal kick, which Firenze missed from 50 yards out.
The ball did change hands and the drives following were never very long, until 3 minutes before the half the Fappers did drop again the ball, but this time were the Knights only to recover the ball inside the Fappers red zone.
Four plays later did Carrickfergus kick a field goal for the 10-0 lead.
The ensuing drive of Firanze was unsuccessful and with 19 ticks left on the clock did the Knights coach send his kicker on the field.
The kick was long, but not good enough for the 66 yards.
The Fappers got the ball on the opponents’ 44 yard line and rushed for 9 more, only to kick a field goal with 3 ticks left on the snap from 52 yards out.
So 10-3 at the half.
The 3rd quarter was dominated by the defenses, no real progress was made, but the Knights had always a bad field position, which did allow the Fappers to kick a field goal after another short drive inside the Knights territory.
The 55 yard kick was no good.
Fappers fans did start cursing.
The 4th quarter did start and the Knights lost a fumble around mid-field.
The Fappers did see their comeback chance coming and played a good enough drive to seal it with successful 55 yard field goal.
So 10-6 now.
Unfortunate were the Fappers now in bad field positions on the following drives which lead to a Knights field goal.
But they missed it from 41 yards out!
Does no come the comeback?
To make it short, no.
The Fappers lost the turnover prone game and did sink to 1-2, while the Knights got their 3rd straight win.

Landru Athletics @ Leverkusen Leopards
-> Game
-> Score: 3:8
A strange game between Leverkusen and Landru.
The 33300 fans did see a wild start.
Both teams had each drive when Leverkusen did hit a coffin nail punt right to the goal line, which did returner tried to return but he was stopped on the 1 yard line.
The next Athletic run was stopped inside their own end zone and a safety was given.
That’s a 2-0 lead for Leverkusen and the ball. Well, they couldn’t use the ball that much as it seems, the punted a few plays later.
But Landru was also unable to move the ball and slowly did the field position get worse for the Athletics, until the Leopards had them again on the Landru 4 yard line.
Two short runs did help to avoid another field goal, but the next Leopards drive did start from the Athletics 36 yard line, thanks to a good punt return.
A few plays later did the Leopards hit a field goal for the 5-0 lead.
It followed several drives where no team was able to move the ball, until the 2 minute warning was given.
Landru did fumble shortly after it and gave the Leopards another great field position, 26 yards away from the Athletics end zone. But 4 plays later did the Leopard miss a 44 yarder and both teams went to the locker room.
When both teams started playing again it did look like an eternal struggle for yardage.
The 3rd quarter went by without a score and another 5 minutes were gone of the 4th quarter when Landru got the ball again and fumbled right on 1st down.
The Leopards did recover it and kicked after some plays another field goal for the 8-0 lead.
Landru had to act now, but were unable to move the ball.
For the fans it got even worse, when the Athletics really got a Leopards fumble recovered, but were unable to get anything out of it.
Only a sloppy play call by the Leopard to go for it on 4th and 11 on their own 19 did gave the Athletics the ball in excellent field position, only to kick a field goal with time running out.

Maykop Dynamos @ OrangeCrush
-> Game
-> Score: 3:0
The 32967 OrangeCrush fans were disappointed after the game.
Their team did not score a single point and lost the game.
The first two quarters did flew buy with no real highlights.
Both teams did try to move the ball, but the merciless defense fronts did stop them for good, every time. The last play before the half was controversial, a pass was thrown and somehow did the player get into the endzone, but the zebras did call the touchdown off, so both teams went into the half with zero points on the board.
The 3rd quarter went by and still no points in sight, when early in the 4th the Dynamos did try the first field goal, but missed it from 51 yards out.
OrangeCrush got nervous and tried a regular play on 4th and 11 on their own 29 yard line, were stopped behind the line of scrimmage and suddenly Maykop had the chance to win the game.
3 plays later came the kicker on the field and kicked the game winning field goal from the 20 yard line.
That was a costly gutsy call from OrangeCrush which made that happen.
The fans left shortly after the game, cursing the coach.

Mombasa Lions @ AS Roma Wolves
-> Game
-> Score: 10:3
The Wolves were able to get 32634 visitors inside their stadium and were ready to beat the Lions.
Unfortunate for them, the Lions were not that easy prey for the pack as the players and fans wished.
About 5 minutes into the games did an aggressive Lions defense force a fumble on the Wolves 20 yard line and a big man with football did return the ball to the house while avoiding a tackle try by the TE. Touchdown and a big dance by a big player.
A few minutes later did the Lions even had the chance to kick a field goal to extent the lead, but missed it. You could hear the relieve felt in the stadium. Still 7-0 Lions.
The start of the 2nd quarter did see a field goal try by the Wolves, but this one was also missed, wide right.
Both teams did play, drive after drive, without and real results, until the Lions were again in field goal range. The kick was too short and the Wolves got the ball back.
The clock was ticking when the drive did go on and on, getting deeper into Lions territory, until … the halftime whistle was blown.
The fans asked themselves why the coach had tried a 48 yard field goal and did instead try a fruitless run after run, until the time ran out, but the coach was not available for comments.
The 3rd quarter was almost over when the eternal struggle in mid-field was interrupted by a Lions field goal, which was good and extended the lead to 10-0.
The Wolves answered with a good punts after a longer drive, sending the Lions right before their own endzone. Mombasa were unable to get out of their red zone and game the Wolves by a punt great field position, which they used for a quick field goal. 10-3.
That short period of weakness was the last for the Lions, who did bring that game to an end, keeping the Wolves in check.
Lions with a great start into the season, the Wolves with 1-2 far from satisfied.

Midnight Marauders @ Basterds
-> Game
-> Score: 0:20 (ruled)
The Games between Besterds and Marauders became an official scrimmage, when it became clear that the official jerseys of the Marauders were forgotten at home.
By rule the game was ruled a Besterds win and both teams did plays some plays with away and home jerseys of the Besterds, for the fans.
Experts did say that the Marauders did use some experimental plays, which are so far not accepted by the rules, but the future might bring a rules change.
The fans were of cause not happy, but the beer and the scrimmage did cool them off a bit.
The commissioner was unhappy over another ruled game.

Amersfoort Alligators @ BobBoy Magpies
-> Game
-> Score: 3:6
The Amersfoort Alligators coached by a guy all insiders do name just Cheesehead went to the BobBoy Magpies, which are coached by another league original, named dell_g, whatever that means.
The fans and the journalists did expect a close game and both teams did deliver.
Almost every of the 32110 fans did stay until the game was over and most even far beyond, celebrating the victory.
The 1st quarter was a pure defense will power letting no one in scoring range.
The defense minded visitors were happy.
Then, start of the 2nd quarter did the Alligators have a quite good drive and made it to the opponents half and were stopped on the 38 yard line. The kicker did kick and made the 55 yarder easily.
Alligators leading 3-0!
The Magpies did answer a bit later with a major drive shortly before half and sealed that giant effort with a 57 yard field goal! Giant kick!
So the game was tied at the half and the fans did enjoy the halftime show.
In the 3rd quarter were again the defenses on top of their game and did let nothing move forward.
The quarter did finish and both teams switched side, only to continue the defense battle until the Magpies got the ball at the edge of the opponents red zone, thanks to a great punt return.
The Alligators did whatever possible, but at the end the kicker came on the field and kicked the chip shot with less than 2 minutes to go.
Not enough for a comeback, not against THAT defense.
The Magpies to the victory home, the Alligators the booze.

Guinness Drinkers United @ Rabaul Jacanas
-> Game
-> Score: 6:3
Guinness Drinkers United @ Rabaul Jacanas as inter-conference game was highly anticipated and 32503 fans did come into the sports arena to celebrate the game.
Both sides had some colorful comments prior the game, as “We will fight as if we came last to a free beer stand and the supply did stop” and “Drinkers will have to drink their sponsors beer trough a straw after that game” might suggest.
No wonder the 1st quarter was a tough battle which the Drinkers were able to win by a 62 yard field goal shortly before the switch.
Jacanas were unable to respond and the Drinkers were able to kick another field goal, this time from 60 yards out, shortly after the switch to 2nd quarter.
Another unsuccessful drive of Jacanas later were the Drinkers again able to kick a field goal try, but this time, even when it was the shortest so far, they missed it from 59 yards out.
The teams went to the locker room without more points, Drinkers leading 6-0.
The 3rd quarter was dominated by the fumbles of the Jacanas and Drinkers not long after the kickoff though out the quarter. It did not help any team much, but did give the Drinkers by that and a few nice plays and returns a good enough field position to try another field goal, only to miss it again. It seems 58 yard are harder to make then 62 ….
The 4th quarter did give the Jacanas fans a glimpse of hope, when the team did try THEI first field goal try, but missed it from 56 yards.
The game went back and forth, Drinker even dropped the ball again, but nobody was really able to get things going, until the Jacanas had one drive left in the tank and made it almost to the Drinkers endzone. With time running out they did kick their lonely field goal for a 6-3 loss, which earned them some ‘BooooooOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo’ from the fans.
Controversial call from the coach.

Guinness Drinkers United @ Carrickfergus Knights
-> Game
-> Score: 0:20 (ruled)
In a bizarre event did the Drinkers seemingly win against the Knights, only the replay shown to the commissioner did reveal severer rule violations and therefore was the game rules a Knights win afterwards.
Drinkers got additionally no access to alcohol for the next week.
The prior demanded sex punishment was declined.
The Commissioner did state 'We don't support sex punishment, SM-games are for Baseball.

Basterds @ Landru Athletics
-> Game
-> 12:7
The 31968 fans of the Athletics did see a great game.
Landru did start with a nice drive and the Basterds were at the beginning not able to counter that offense. They stopped them and were able to make a small drive by themselves, but Landru got the ball back and started moving again towards the Basterds endzone.
Fumble! Landru recovered it back and punted a play later.
On the first play of the ensuing drive a Basterds fumble and Landru did recover it.
Two plays later Touchdown! Athletics lead 7-0.
Both teams did then share the ball for some plays each, but were not able to move it much.
Only the field position did turn in favor of the Basterds.
Slowly did their 1st down spot move towards Landrus Endzone until they were able to kick a field goal beginning of the second quarter.
Again did both teams share the ball for some drives, until another fumble happened. This time did Landru drop the ball and the Basterds did recover it.
They were held to a field goal for the 7-6 score.
The rest of the second quarter and the complete 3rd quarter were not really exciting, until in the 4th quarter the Basterds again were able to benefit from their field position and kicked another field goal. Basterds leading 9-7 now.
Landru did try to fight back, but short drives and good Basterds special teams did help the guests to start from mid-field and they went for a long drive.
The Athletics were able to stop them inside their red zone, but too late to stop another field goal.
Now behind 7-12 did Landru …. Not much. They tried to the ball going, but failed and lost the game.

Midnight Marauders @ Maykop Dynamos
-> Game
-> Score 6:14
The 33300 fans did see a fast start.
After 2 plays did Maykop fumble and Midnight did recover.
Another 4 plays later did Midnight sink a field goal from 36 yards for a 3-0 lead.
The tempo did then fall and for the rest of the 1st quarter and long parts of the 2nd quarter.
Maykop did gamble on 2 drives and played their 4th down, but had to turn the ball over each time.
Ensuing drive after the last 4th down attempt did end not well for Midnight, when they fumbled the ball and Maykop did return it to the house for a 7-3 lead.
When both teams came out of the lockerroom after the break the game went on as it was most of the time in the first half.
Drive after drive did happen, without real advantages, until late in the 3rd quarter Maykop recovered another Marauders fumble and ran it to the house, again. 14-3.
After several drives were Midnight finally in scoring range, but missed the field goal attempt mid of the 4th quarter.
A bit later were the Marauders able scoop up the ball from Maykop, played some downs, only to kick a field goal with basically time expiring to close the game 14-6.
The fans discussed heavily whether this was a great idea.

BobBoy Magpies @ Mombasa Lions
-> Game
-> Score: 0:9
The Lions are on their way to the playoffs.
They won another game, this time with 3 field goals and held their opponent, the Magpies, scoreless.
The first field goal (1st quarter) came to live after a great return, giving the Lions great field position.
The second field goal (2nd quarter) was possible after a BobBoys fumble and a Lions recovery.
The last field goal was possible after a 4th down try by the Magpies with under 3 minutes to play inside their own redzone. Nothing to lose the team did try a run with 11 yards to go, but were stopped after 1 yard gain.
The game was dominated by the defenses which did their thing in a gruesome precision and without much fanfare.
The Lions won 9-0 in a stonewall duel.
Stats nerd number of the day: 31406 fans in the arena.

Amersfoort Alligators @ Firenze Fappers
-> Game
-> Score: 0:8
The Fappers or now Foxes did meet the Alligators. Overall did 32540 people see a defense driven game with just a few highlights.
In general were the 1st quarter a drive ping pong and also the 2nd quarter was dominated by short lived drives, until Firanze was able to push the Alligators deeper inside their own territory and sealed it with a safety in the middle of the quarter.
A few minutes later were the Foxes able to increase the 2-0 lead to 5-0 after a 45 yard field goal.
The halftime show did feature all former Firenze players since the team was founded, which did give the field manager a tough time after a 4-figure-amount of players went over the field with waving arms.
The 3rd quarter was again dominated by the defense until the Foxes did had a quite good field position and a good drive to kick another field goal for the final score of 8-0.
Thanks god did the former players perform some barber shop music in the stands to make the rest of the game much more exciting.
Official news do state that ‘The millenium voice Barber Shop Gang’ will tour the country soon. Tickets will be available at your local dealer.

OrangeCrush @ Rabaul Jacanas
-> Game
-> Score: 9:0
The 32909 fans were already snoring when the first fumble of the game happened late in the 2nd quarter. Rabaul did fumble, OrangeCrush did recover, but were unable to make something out of it.
Instead to kick a field goal with seconds left on the clock they tried to punch it in from 21 yards away from the endzone. That left 3 points of the boards.
The fans were to sleepy to complain, since the game so far was too boring.
After the halftime (which feature the snoring local marching band) the game become a bit more interesting when Rabaul missed field goal. So instead of 3-3 we still had 0-0. Yes!
With less than 9 minutes to play in the game the snoring stopped for a short time when OrangeCrush was able to tackle the Rabaul RB inside his own endzone. Safety! A whopping 2-0 lead by OrangeCrush.
Less than 7 minutes to go went the game in overdrive.
Rabauls kicker did somehow sneaked on the field, confused all players in the huddle and tried a 101 yard field goal, which he missed by inches.
It was later revealed that he not only consumed laughing gas, but had also a bionic leg. The commissioner is on it.
OrangeCrush did say thanks for the great field position and ran the touch down in and won the game 9-0.
It took half an hour to wake up all fans in the stand who did miss the legendary field goal try and the TD.

Leverkusen Leopards @ AS Roma Wolves
-> Game
-> Score: 7:7 OT (ruled a Leopards victory)
The Leopards – Wolves game did end with a controversial call.
The game itself was not really spectacular.
The Wolves returned a Leopards fumble for a touchdown in the 1st quarter, the Leopards did return a Wolves fumble in the 3rd quarter for a touchdown to tie the game.
Between that, defense to the teeth (Leopards and Wolves teeth to be precise).
Then came the first controversial call, the Leopards did try a 97 yard field goal to win the game, with 1 minute left in the game.
They missed it by a mile and gave the Wolves a 1st down on the Leopards 13 yard line.
Second controversial call, the Wolves did run for 6 yards and the game went into overtime.
In their second drive did the Wolves pass the ball for a banned pass TD (70 yards), so the officials did call the play off, but the crowd was already on the field celebrating the Wolves victory, which of cause did not happened.
The official did discuss the situation and rules the game a Leopards victory with a tied game score.

5. Gameday (02.09.2016)
Carrickfergus Knights @ BobBoy Magpies
-> Game
-> Score: 6:9
The crowd stayed for the whole overtime, the full 24:41 minutes, until the Magpies did sink the 51 yarder and won the game against the Knights 9 to 6.
That meant 33086 fans standing in the cold and waiting for the final score. Rumors is, for some were the team ending the game with a score not important, they just wanted to see an end to that defense driven game.
As often did great field position and special teams help to get some scores, as for the Knights to get the 3-0 lead in the 1st quarter, or as the Magpies with their slightly better returns over many drives leading to that game tying field goal in the 3rd quarter, after 2 missed field goals before in 2nd and beginning of the 3rd.
Or as the Knights, which did respond exactly on that tying field goal with a 60 yard return, setting up a drive which did give them again the lead with another field goal. 6-3.
The Magpies did need almost the complete 4th quarter until they were in position to force the overtime, in which they did need another 24 plus minutes to seal the deal.
The fans did see them slightly better than the Knights, so the better team might have won today.

Landru Athletics @ OrangeCrush
-> Game
-> Score: 16:3
It does not happen very often that the fans can see a safety.
In the game between Landru and OrangeCrush we saw 2!
About 10 minutes in the game did OrangeCrush got the ball back from Landru after a long punt on their own 1 yard line.
Defensive End Wilhelm Ziegelbrenner took down RB Kristopher Lloyd in the endzone, on the very next play and score a safety. Athletics in front 2-0.
OrangeCrush needed some time to respond and with about 2 minutes left in the quarter they kicked a field goal for the 3-2 lead.
After that it was all Landru.
The second quarter did near its end when the Athletics were able to kick their first field goal to regain the lead, which they held until halftime.
In the 3rd quarter the game was like a stalemate, until Landru kicked another field goal 5 minutes into the quarter, only to get back to the stalemate part for the rest of the current and large parts of the last quarter.
An early highlight in the 4th was the second safety on the day, followed by an OrangeCrush missed field goal.
When the game was basically over did OrangeCrush try everything possible and gave Landru twice the ball in great field position after a played out 4th down, which were each stopped my Landru.
The Athletics did kick 2 field goals out of it and won the game 16-3.
The fans did discuss the controversial decision to kick another field goal, the last one, with 11 seconds to go and with a 13-3 lead.

Leverkusen Leopards @ Maykop Dynamos
-> Game
-> Score: 3:6
The official number was 33232 snoring guests inside the stadium until the Dynamos did hit the game deciding field goal in OT.
The 1st quarter was scoreless, the 2nd quarter almost, only a 60 yard bomb 6 ticks before the half did prevent a scoreless half and did send the Leopards with a 3-0 lead to the locker room.
The Dynamos did then profit from a Leopards fumble early in the 3rd quarter and did kick a field goal after a few plays to even the score.
Later, in the 4th quarter did the Dynamos miss a field goal try from 49 yards, which was the reason for the overtime.
In OT it took almost 14 minutes until a kicker was in range, and lucky he did sink it.
The fans were snoring almost the whole game, which does summarize the highlights of the game in a very good way.

Firenze Foxes @ Mombasa Lions
-> Game
-> Score: 7:7 (Ruled a Lions win)
The game between the Foxes and the Lions was later ruled a win for the Lions.
The reason for that were the last play the Foxes made in OT which did result in a touchdown and ended the game. The review of the play did show significant broken rules, so heavily that both teams and the league were forced to call for that ruled win.
The game itself was fine, the foxes did score on a big play the first touchdown, which was answered by the later in the 2nd quarter by a returned fumble to the endzone.
From that point on, the defenses took over and prevented any real progression.
The foxes had the chance to score a leading field goal, early in the 4th quarter, but missed it from 54 yards out.
Mombasa was on the other hand not able to sink their game winning field goal a few drives later, from 46 yards out.
With tied at 7 the game went to overtime where no team was able to pull away. Firenze was unable to profit from a Mombasa fumble, Firenze was also unable to sink a field goal, missed it again, this time from 51 yards out and if not for that rule breaking play, which the officials were unable to judge in the right way, the game might still be alive.
The fans were later unsatisfied with the ruling, but overall, rules are not there to be ignored.

AS Roma Wolves @ Guinness Drinkers United
-> Game
-> Score: 17:6
The Wolves did eat the Drinkers alive on that gameday.
After a scoreless 1st quarter with 3 missed field goals (2 missed by the Drinkers from 63+ yards out and 1 missed by the Wolves from 53 yards) did the game got its 1st few points in the 2nd quarter, when the Wolves did hit a 50 yarder through the uprights.
A controversial period before halftime did lead to the tying score by the Drinkers.
With 32 second left to play did the overconfident Wolves kicker try a 66 yarder and missed it.
The Drinkers Kicker wanted to show his skills and kicked the next play a 61 yarder, but missed also.
Now with only 19 second to play came the Wolvers kicker on the field and tried a field goal from 66 yards again and missed of cause, but the Drinkers kicker used his second chance wisely and made the 61 yarder after that last attempt and both teams went with 3 points on the board to the locker room.
We don’t know what happened to the Drinkers defense at halftime, but they were unable to stop the Wolves early in the 3rd quarter and allowed 2 rushing touchdowns.
To be fair, the second TD was a major gift from the Drinkers after they lost a fumble deep in their own redzone.
After that quarter, the Drinkers were finished and were only able to score another field goal shortly before the end of the game.
Since punishments did not work for the Drinkers to perform better, the league decided to give out complementary Kölsch bottles. It’s not sure whether that local beer from Cologne should motivate them by fun or fear.

Midnight Marauders @ Rabaul Jacanas
-> Game
-> Score: 0:10
Winless Rabaul had the Marauders as guests and of cause their goal was to get the 1st win of the season.
They played aggressive enough to force a Marauders fumble and after a few plays did the Jacanas kick a field goal to take the lead.
Midnight was stunned and were unable to get anything going, so that Rabaul was even able to try another field goal, later in the 2nd quarter, but this time they missed it and the teams went into the half with a 3-0 lead by the Jacanas.
The 3rd quarter started as usual, back and forth did the ball go, drive after drive, until Rabaul forced another fumble, this time they did not recover it, no, they returned it.
No Marauders player was able to stop them from scoring the 10-0 lead.
The end for the Marauders?
The team zone was in terror, but the team did find their strength back and almost at the end of the 4th quarter did Midnight try a field goal to make it a 1 score game.
After they missed that shot, the game was really over.
Rabaul won their first game and had a giant party, Midnight did climb into their bus and went home, long before the stadium was empty.

Amersfoort Alligators @ Basterds
-> Game
-> Score: 0:55
The coach of the Alligators had a bad feeling when he heard his defense went on a bachelor party a few hours before the game.
The locker room smelled like a pub and the players were either very relaxed or braindead, so no wonder the offense of the Basterds were able to put up points against that defense.
At the end the scoreboard showed 55 points for the Basterds and Zero for the Alligators.
A game to remember with several nice runs and plays, but most of the Alligators defense at least won’t be able to do so. Lucky guys.

BobBoy Magpies @ AS Roma Wolves
-> Game
-> Score: 6:3
A game without many highlights if you are an offense fan.
Both teams did manage to keep the opponent in check and it took a big chuck of time to get the first field goal try on the field, missing the goal from 55 yards out, about mid of the 2nd quarter.
The Magpies Kicker was not happy over that kick.
The teams went scoreless into the half and that Magpies Kicker got his second try after about 5 minutes in the 3rd quarter, sinking it from 53 yards out for a 3-0 lead.
The Wolves were at first helpless to counter that, but a Magpies fumble a bit later did setup a few Wolves plays which led to a 39 yard field goal to tie the game at 3.
The 4th quarter was totally defense driven and did not change the outcome so far, sending the game into overtime.
Magpies kicked off and had the Wolves by that trapped inside their own half, several drives later were the Magpies able to get a few extra yards and came into field goal range.
A 41 yarder did seal the deal and made them win the game 6-3.

OrangeCrush @ Basterds
-> Game
-> Score: 6:0
OrangeCrush did not needed that win, since they were already out of competition of the playoffs, but the Basterds could not afford the loss, which might send them out of the playoff race.
At the end did the Basterds defense allow two field goal during the game and the Basterds offense was unable to counter those points.
To be fair, the first field goal came after a 53 yard punt return of the OrangeCrush and the following drive after the return did only little to make the kick easier.
The second kick came also after a great punt return of 40 yards, giving OrangeCrush exelent field position and the 6-0 lead.
From that point on, no surprises and no big plays, leading to a Basterds loss.

Guinness Drinkers United @ Amersfoort Alligators
-> Game
-> Game: 3:9
Well, for sure both teams were creative, but the referees were on it and kept their house clean.
The Drinkers did score first after an Alligators fumble did set them up in good field position.
That field goal went only 31 yards, but who will complain, right?
About mid of the 1st quarter did the Drinkers then call a play they name ‘slide the pint surface’ in which a players storms the field near the sideline and gets the ball.
Usually this is done by a few laterals building up some mass confusion, but this time did the QB just throw the ball and the player went all the way.
The refs did call it a foul play (actually they called it much worse, but we are family friendly, right?) and took the points of the board.
Drinkers were not happy, but rules are rules and played with a first in their pockets.
Later they did drop the ball without big consequences and the quarter ended shortly after it.
In 2nd quarter did the Alligators kicker try a field goal from 55 yards, but did hit the goal posts. Bad luck.
Shortly before the break were the Drinkers Kicker in record mood and tried a 64 yarder, but missed it. So 3-0 at the half.
In the 3rd quarter did something happen, which had the Drinkers fans on the ropes.
On 4th and 1 on their own 20 did the coach call for a regular play and were not able to convert it.
The Alligators got the ball in great field position and kicked a field goal for the tie.
A drive later had the ‘gators even a chance to get the lead, but missed another field goal try from 49 yards.
The 4th quarter and the Drinkers got nervous.
Another 66 yarder try was missed by the Drinkers early on and when only 5 minutes were to play the game became another example for creative play execution.
The Alligators were about mid field when the OC called a play call ‘down the gator throat’ which is a run play designed for the RB to run the sideline after a lateral on a delayed play. The QB made his fakes and miss direction handoffs perfectly but lost the field overview during the turns, throwing the ball forward, instead of backward.
The RB did get the ball and ran it to the house, but the flag on the play did take that away as well.
At the end it was a tied game at 3. Overtime.
Alligators did fumble on one drive, but the Drinkers kicker did miss kick it from 60 yards and gave the Alligators another chance. They had a quite descend drive, only to miss the game winner from 19 yards!
Over?
Not yet. The Drinkers fumbled on the 2nd play of the drive and a few plays later did the Alligators punch the football into the endzone for the 9-3 win.

Rabaul Jacanas @ Leverkusen Leopards
-> Game
-> Score: 3:16
The Leopards did need a win to stay in the playoff hunt and the fans were not disappointed.
Jacanas were the first to score with a field goal in the first quarter and the Leopards had their chance to even the score a bit later, decided to go for it on 4th down and failed, instead of kicking the tying field goal.
So the teams went into the half with a 3-0 lead by the Jacanas.
The 3rd quarter did continue the scoreless 2nd quarter, until the Leopards did finally kick the game tying field goal.
Shortly before the last change of playing direction did then a Jacanas fumble happen and the Leopards did not ask for more, collected the rock and ran it to the house for 66 yards and 7 points. 10-3 lead for the Leopards now.
Rabaul tried to answer, but their offense were unable to get the needed 1st downs.
Instead did the Leopards kick 2 more field goals and secured the win.

Landru Athletics @ Carrickfergus Knights
-> Game
-> Score: 3:9
The Athletics and the Knights played a field goal driven game.
The first score came after a long sequence of short drives, which ended after a long return, giving the Knights good field position. They kick a field goal for the 3-0 shortly after.
The Athletics were able to answer that with a field goal on their own, setup by the kickoff return which came directly after the Knights first field goal.
A few plays of the Athletics did secure the good field position and Landru tied the game with a long field goal, which was also the score of halftime.
In the 3rd did then Carrickfergus have another chance for a field goal after a long punt return.
They made the kick and got the lead by that.
The next Athletics drive were stopped and again did the returner bring the ball deep into the opponents territory which did setup another field goal kick, extending the lead to the final score of 9-3, since the 4th quarter stayed scoreless.

Maykop Dynamos @ Mombasa Lions
-> Game
-> Score: 12:0
The Lions and the Dynamos are hot candidates to reach the Bowls, so the game between them during the regular season could become a preview for the playoffs.
The most stunning thing on the game was, that the Lions were held scoreless while the Dynamos made 4 field goals in the 1st half and were kept scoreless for the remaining game also.
The Dynamos were able to score 4 field goal only because of good return gains and because of some underperforming punts by the Lions.
The Dynamos were at least 1 more time in scoring range, but decided to punt that time in the 4th quarter.
Overall a quite one dimensional game.

Midnight Marauders @ Firenze Foxes
-> Game
-> Score: 3:13
Both teams needed a win badly to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot and it was clear that the loser would likely be out of that hunt.
The Foxes had to swallow an early field goal by the Marauders after a great punt return in the first quarter.
Beginning if the second quarter were the Foxes able to scoop up the ball and forcing a fumble, but were unable to capitalize from that.
A few plays later did the Foxes then fumble also the ball and the Marauders recovered it, also causing no harm with the following drive.
Late in the 2nd did then a short period of time decide the game.
After a great Foxes return on a punt did Firenze kick a game tying field goal.
The next Midnight drive was shorted by a fumble on 2nd down and the Foxes returned it 17 yards to the endzone for a 10-3 lead.
Nobody did know it at that point, but the game was basically over at that point, even it was only halftime.
The 3rd quarter was dominated by switching possessions with no real gain in yardage or any scoring, until the 4th quarter came and the Foxes score another field goal after a good drive. 13-3.
That score did last until the game was over.

7. Gameday (16.09.2016)
Amersfoort Alligators @ Carrickfergus Knights
-> Game
-> Score: 3:25
The Knights were looking for a playoff spot when they hosted the Alligators.
And the fans got what they wanted, a win and there was nothing to worry about it.
Their first 2 drives resulted in a field goal each in the first quarter and they added another pair of field goals in the second while their defenses held the Alligators to zero points in the first half.
The second half did start a bit better for the Alligators keeping the Knights from scoring, but they never had a chance to score by themselves. Later in the 3rd quarter did then the Knights RB Thiago Barros find the endzone and added more points to the lead.
The Alligators became desperate and tried even a 64 yard field goal at the beginning of the 4th quarter, but needed another drive to get on the scoreboard with a field goal.
From that moment on it was only Knights and they extended their lead even further with 2 additional field goals, winning 25-3.
The Knights are still in the hunt for a PO spot, the Alligators are fighting against the cellar spot in the division.

Basterds @ Rabaul Jacanas
-> Game
-> Score: 16:0
Basterds had the playoffs in sight when they met the Jacanas, which are looking for some wins to escape the last place inside their division.
Under heavy rain became the game a pure mud festival.
The first quarter was kept scoreless, the second quarter looked to become more interesting when the Basterds fumbled and Jacanas got the Ball on the opponents 21 yard line.
No TD was possible, but Rabaul tried a field goal from 42 yards out, but the snap went a bit off and so did the kick.
The Basterds did play a bit more focused after that and forced a Jacanas fumble a bit later, which was returned for a score, while everybody else was still in the what-has-been-grass-now-pure-mud-menace.
With new clean uniforms did both teams attend the second half, but honestly, that was a wasted investment. After some time did both teams look again like mud dogs A playing mud dogs B sharing the same uniforms, barely differentiable by some shining through colors on the shoulders. The third quarter did stay scoreless, the fourth did start with another Jacanas fumble and this time did at least one player tried to stop the returner, but he was not able to hold the returner down, slipping away and allowed another TD.
Rabaul was not able to counter that and was also slowly pushed back by the plays and special teams in field position.
On a 1st and 10 on their own 1 yard line the defense line got to the ball player behind the line of scrimmage and added 2 more points to the score with a safety.
That became the last scoring play and the game ended 16:0, fueling the playoff hopes of the Basterds fans and left the Jacanas on last place in the division.

Firenze Foxes @ Landru Athletics
-> Game
-> Score: 13:7
A game of honor was this game named after it was clear that no team can become a part of the playoff setup.
The Foxes and the Athletics sure tried to make up on that marketing label.
Both teams did honor the opponent with many headbutts on the field, making a very defense driven game.
The first quarter did not see any scoring drive and only the battle for field position did help the Foxes to kick a field goal later in the second quarter.
An Athletics fumble after the 2 minute warning was returned for a score to extend the Foxes lead to 10 and another Athletics fumble on the ensuing drive help the Foxes to kick a field goal before the end of the half.
The 3rd quarter became the first opportunity for the Athletics to score, but the field goal kick went wide left from 51 yards out.
Both teams did battle back and forth with no real gain and no scoring until the 4th quarter came and almost went bye. Athletics did try everything, played a 4th down on the Foxes 41 yard line, but failed to convert, which did send them after a Foxes punt on the next drive deep into their own half.
Lucky them did the Foxes fumble the ball and Landru returned it for a TD to make it a 1-score game with 4 and a half minutes left.
But the Foxes were smart enough to secure the win over the running clock and won it 13-7.

AS Roma Wolves @ Maykop Dynamos
-> Game
-> Score: 6:12
The Dynamos tried to secure their playoff spot when they battled it out against the Wolves.
The fans had to wait for the first score until the start of the 2nd quarter when the Dynamos kicked a field goal and went ahead 3-0.
For some moment were the Dynamos fans happy, until they saw a fumble by their team, which was recovered by the Wolves and a few plays later converted into the game tying field goal. 3-3.
Both teams went into the halftime after a defense driven rest of the 2nd quarter and started with great ambitions in the 3rd.
On both side were the defense ambitions bigger than the offense ambitions, at least that was the conclusion of the fans when they had to see drive after drive stuffed by the lines and linebackers with no real progress or and scoring opportunity.
The Wolves had after 10 minutes the chance to kick a field goal, which they used bravely and went ahead 6-3 until the Dynamos had one decent drive which led to another field goal to tie the game at 6.
The teams went into overtime and moved back and forth until the Dynamos were again in scoring range, but missed the kick, which led to another struggle on the field for field position.
After about 12 minutes had the Dynamos again a waking moment and marched over the whole distance from their own 35 to the endzone and scored the game winning touchdown to win 12-6.

Mombasa Lions @ Midnight Marauders
-> Game
-> Score: 6:0
The Lions were in best position for a playoff spot, all they had to do is win.
The Marauders went all defense and tried to prevent any progress on the field.
On offense the produced the first error in the 1st quarter when they fumbled the ball away.
Lucky for them did the Lions try to punch the ball in and were stopped on 4th and 1.
For the rest of the quarter did the Marauders hold their ground and prevented any scoring, unfortunately they also made no points in their own.
The 2nd quarter came and all went right for the Marauders until the Lions were able to move the ball far enough to kick a field goal.
Marauders were unable to answer and the Lions did move again over the field and kicked another field goal.
The teams did split for the half with the Mombasa leading 6-0.
It looked like the tactic of the Marauders to wait for a fumble went wrong when the Lions were able to try another field goal, but they missed it in the 3rd quarter.
The Marauders smelled some hope when they had the first time a chance to score beginning of the 4th quarter, but they also missed the field goal try.
To make it short, the Lions stays flawless and won the game on a perfect defense stand and no errors on offense.
The playoffs are waiting.

BobBoy Magpies @ Leverkusen Leopards
-> Game
-> Score: 3:0
With playoff hopes on both side of the field in limbo the atmosphere was intense, the game not.
At least not on scoring.
First scoring chance? A missed field goal by the Magpies in the 2nd quarter.
First desperate move? End of the first half by Leverkusen, trying a 65 yard field goal.
The funny thing on that? They missed and the Magpies tried a kick with time running out right after it from 62 yards.
Also missed shot.
So tied at zero, yeah!
The Leopards lost the game on a fumble in the 3rd quarter.
It was not returned for a score, but the Magpies got the ball in great field position and made field goal after 3 failed running tries.
The Leopards were unable to counter that and even when they were able to prevent another score when the Magpies missed another field goal they were not able to score and lost the game 3-0.
The Magpies were almost in the playoffs, the Leopards were almost out of it.

OrangeCrush @ Guinness Drinkers United
-> Game
-> Score: 13:10
The Drinkers were confident to win the game against OrangeCrush, but this confidence got a hit, when they had to witness the game winning field goal in OT.
After a scoreless first half, which did feature a super confident field goal try by the Drinkers from 63 yards and a heavy defense battle, the teams began scoring in the middle of the 3rd quarter.
Drinkers did hit a field goal for the lead and OrangeCrush was happy to return a Drinkers fumble for a touchdown shortly before the 4th quarter started.
The Drinkers were still confident, even when OrangeCrush did increase the lead by a field goal a bit later.
The Drinkers just scoped up the ball out of the OrangeCrush offense and returned it for a score to tie the game.
Confident!
In OT did both teams play bone hard defense but the Drinkers had a bit more luck and were able to try a field goal, but missed it! The kicker go some Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo from the stands.
Many drives later, already 25 minutes in OT did the kicker miss another field goal try, but to be fair, that was from 66 yards out. He earned only a few Boooooooooooooooooooooo from the stand.
Finally, after almost 43 minutes in OT did OrangeCrush get the ball on a good spot and did hit the winning field goal!
The stands were already empty, the Drinkers got later some Boooooo from the Beer-Stations outside the stadium. They ignored it and went for booze to forget the Boooooooooooos.

8. Gameday (17.09.2016)
Mombasa Lions @ Carrickfergus Knights
-> Game
-> Score: 10:7
The Knights were looking for a win to get into the playoffs against the Lions.
All they needed to do was getting this game under control and win it.
It looked like a gift from heaven when the Lions did fumble in the 1st quarter and the Knights went all the way for a score.
7-0!
The Knights were able to stop the Lions all way until the end of the half, when the Lions had the chance to kick a field goal.
They missed and the teams went to the locker rooms.
The Knights did put their fate at risk, when they fumbled themselves in the 3rd quarter and the Lions did tie the game.
The game ended after a scoreless 4th quarter and went into overtime where Mombasa had the first chance to score, but missed a field goal try.
After several drives did finally a game changer happen.
The Knights did fumble and the Lions needed 4 tries to secure a good kicking position and they made it to win the game.
The Marauders were basically kicked out of the playoffs.

Maykop Dynamos @ Landru Athletics
-> Game
-> Score: 33:7
As slugfest was on when the Dynamos played their last regular season game against the Athletics.
This game was not short on points.
Landru had the first scoring chance, but miss a field goal try in the middle of the 1st quarter.
A few drives later the disaster for the Athletics began.
They fumbled the ball and the Dynamos returned it for 6 points and added the extra point, too.
Landru got the ball back after the kickoff and fumbled on the 1st down, again!
Maykop did return the ball again and led suddenly 14-0.
The 2nd quarter came and Landru did fumble once again which resulted in another TD, 21-0.
The came the highlight for the Athletics fans when Noble Mccrary returned a punt for 71 yards while avoiding 6 tackle tries.
Touchdown! 21-7.
The Athletics fans gained some hope, but that was crushed shortly after.
A few drives after the punt return was Landru forced to start from the own 4th yard line.
Each down were they pushed back until on 3rd and 13 the ball carrier was tackled behind the goalline.
Safety! 23-7, which was the halftime score.
The 3rd quarter did add 10 points on top for the final score, one returned fumble shortly after the kickoff and a few minutes later a field goal.
33-7!
The crowd went wild.
The 4th quarter did only feature a lost effort by the Athletics and a rundown clock.
Dynamos going Bowling, Landru can relax on vacation.

AS Roma Wolves @ Firenze Foxes
-> Game
-> Score: 10:3
With two scoring plays in the first quarter did rise the expectations for the rest of the game, but the visitors had to wait a long time until they witness another scoring play.
The Foxes did drew first blood on a field goal try, early in the 1st quarter, the Wolves did answer a few minutes later with a fumble return touchdown.
The Foxes had a quite long drive right before the switch of the playing direction at 2nd quarter, but were unable to get close enough to score. For the rest of the quarter basically nothing happened.
In the 3rd quarter did then the Wolves fumble and the Foxes recovered the ball, but obviously were the Foxes coach not very confident regarding his kicker and his kicking distance, so instead of kicking a granted long 57 yard field goal they did punt the ball.
The position went from that moment on back and forth, the defenses did stop drive after drive on both teams until the Wolves got creative later in the 4th quarter and had a good enough yardage gain to kick a field goal.
Now in need for a touchdown did the Foxes respond with some last effort, but the Wolves had them in control and won the game 10-3.

Basterds @ Leverkusen Leopards
-> Game
-> Score: 16:0
It was the final game for one of the teams. The winner would play in a Bowl, the loser would get the chance to have decent vacations.
The Basterds and the Leopards were both not able to get anything going of offense in the 1st quarter and therefore had the fans to wait until about 5 minutes in the 2nd quarter until the Basterds scored by kicking a field goal.
Possible was this only by a great return on the previous Leopards punt.
And when live is dealing lemons, some teams can’t even get a lemonade going. Shortly before the half were the Leopards forced to punt out of their own half when the Bastards had again a great return setting up another field goal kick with 3 ticks left on the clock. It was good and the Basterds went into the half with a 6-0 lead.
The 3rd quarter was all defense and the start of the 4th quarter so finally a decent dive, lucky for the spectators it was Leopards ball.
They went about 40 yards over field, were in field goal range, but decided to run for it on 4th and 1 and were stopped.
Crucial play and basically the end of the game.
Basterd later did score on a fumble return for the final score of 13-0, but that 4th down stop ended it and the Leopards never go such a drive going again.
The Basterds will play in the Bowl next gameday, the Leopards will evaluate the roster and will go on vacation.

OrangeCrush @ Midnight Marauders
-> Game
-> Score: 3:0 (a pass TD was voided)
A controversial game between OrangeCrush and the Marauders.
All started well, OrangeCrush did kick a field goal in the 1st quarter and took the lead, after that it was a battle between two continental plates struggling for some movement. Neither team was able to do much.
The 3rd quarter started with a controversial play, when the Marauders did somehow deliver the ball to a player in the opponents endzone. The fans went wild, but because of some weird technical issues was the TD ruled void and OrangeCrush stayed on top.
NOW the crowd went wild.
Both teams did fast field their teams and started playing to distract the fans and it worked.
In the 4th quarter did then the Marauders fumble the ball, which did seal their fate.
OrangeCrush was not able to score out of the turnover, but the ensuing punt did send the Marauders deep into their own half and the OrangeCrush was able to hold them there until the end of the game.

BobBoy Magpies @ Guinness Drinkers United
-> Game
-> Score: 3:0
The Magpies needed a win to secure the playoff spot, the Drinkers just a drink.
Or maybe more than just ONE drink.
The Magpies were lucky to kick a field goal after a nice drive and the Drinkers went for a boost to the sideline, but the refreshing-manager had only packed beer from Belgium!
The Drinkers got angry, but not angry enough to move the ball.
They were just not down 6-0, because the Magpies kicker had organized the tosses Belgium beer to their team zone and made some quality test prior his next field goal try.
Drunk as a light weighted catholic school choirboy he missed the shot in the second quarter and went offline.
He was woken up end of the 3rd quarter to try another field goal, but missed again.
The game ended 3-0 for the Magpies after a scoreless 4th quarter and the Drinkers did fire their refreshment manager right after the end of the game.
"He was a dick" was the official statement.

Rabaul Jacanas @ Amersfoort Alligators
-> No game (Jacanas had schedule a different game)
-> 0:20 (ruled)
The Alligators needed a win to keep away from the cellar spot and were ready to play, as where the Jacanas. Unfortunately were the Jacanas at Amersfoort - South Africa, while the Alligators expected them in the Netherland. The Commissioner did rule the game a win for the Alligators and the team did not only party, they made a party spontaneously inside the arena with all fans. Season over.
