I'm pretty sure its by snap. I've never been a big fan of the way experience works here. In real life there are diminishing returns. Just getting in the game for a play or two is going to gain you good experience. 10 more plays maybe a bit more. 10 more plays maybe a tiny bit more... But really its diminishing. I highly doubt you really get much more experience playing 60 downs than 40 downs IRL. It shouldn't be a constant factor on snaps.

One issue as pointed out by you, but there are other issues with this as well (thus the work around Pete put in for K/P). In generally it creates these opportunities for exploits because it isn't really using a realistic system. The more realistic a system is, the more difficult it is to exploit in an unrealistic manner. Realistic exploitation is ok . I exploit all my players with poor pay and lots of with cheap .

I don't understand how a team benefits punting on every down and playing vanilla defence. By reading this thread I gather that he is trying to get more experience for his players. His offensive players would get none though.
The game I noticed was gladiators beating Winchester 324-0.

I think it's good to post a 'Wall of Shame'. I will certainly refuse any friendlies from such teams. Can you imagine how rude that would be in real life?

However, the issue is, that those lopsided games tend to produce way more snaps (all the untimed XPs, etc) than normal friendlies.

So if Experience is really gained per Snap, playing those type of games would be an advantage as you produce more XP for your team.

I really hope total XP gain per game is constant and not XP gain per play. But as always, just one man knows

There is no doubt about EXP being per play, it's in the manual.
"Players can gain experience in regular matches and friendly matches on Friday, based on the number of plays in that match."

Agreed.

I'd like to see their fans stay away for their next home league game too. (not Supercup though as that would hurt the opposition)

Winchester has a long experience of tanking. In 14 seasons in 1.1 they reached the PO only 5 times despite their team was obviously better. (they even reached a Bowl game once). Their overall winning percentage in this league is only 47%. They were on PACE last season to promote from 2.1 but decided to tank again few games before the PO.

Fun fact, they tried to tank their last league game but won with 6 INT and one Punt return despite punting on every play. I find it pretty ironic.

Maybe I don't understand how tanking works...I thought you acquired a bunch of money, spend it compiling a super team and then charge to the top leagues in a blaze of wins and glory?

What's the point of dropping to 2.x repeatedly...seems like you'd just make less money that way??

I think that people tank to get the first choice of the draft and the 19 yo 50 INT MLB with SPE and STR above 45 that goes with it. And such player is worth millions.
And when you are in 2.X, you could even get 3 of them in one draft...

And because you aren't having to compete you can take your wage bill to minimal level save up 100's upon 100's of millions and buy up all the very best talent on transfer market then when you eventually begin you climb out of obscurity your team is stronger than most.

It's a legitimate tactic within the rules currently, it's not how I would choose to ply the game but its horses for courses I guess

People are entitled to manage their teams however they like. It just seems like some teams are perpetually tanking & rebuilding. Don't they want to try to win at some point?? I just don't understand the psychology of it.

Me, too. What is the fun to spend seasons by losing on purpose for a few players, which at the end don't push you to the top anyway.
