It is just a rough idea...But I would like to see where this leads to..
We could have a bunch of guys who apply for the job. This could happen during the draft week. Such guys have different strength...maybe greed, consistency, safe negotiating and so on. Each manager of such a league could vote for one of the guys, kind of an "Board of Owners"..the guy with the most votes gets the job. He will then try to negotiate league-wide sponsorships, TV money,...and of course he costs money based on a weekly salary. If the owners are wise and pick the right guy, he would collect some good money throughout the season. At a certain point of the season, the money pot gets split by 32, and each team gets its share from this pot on its account...maybe 50% at the end of the regular season, and the other 50% when the conference championship games happen. Maybe he asks the Board to spend some extra money during the season, where a majority the board would have to agree with... And Im sure there more ideas on how such a Commissioner could act... The math would work in a way that there is no minus in this pot at the end of the season...but it could be very well a +/- zero... |

Oh, and you are not supposed to discuss detailed math here, it is about the overall idea. If you start posting detailed math, formulas, I will feel free to delete these parts from your posts. Thanks for not even starting it.

Let's wait how the discussion goes.
First feeling: I like the idea. And for Pete: Last edited on 2016-12-28 14:57:45 by pete |

If you had one he could also keep track of who supported him. How he treats your team would depend on how much you supported him.
Initial Vote, Votes of Permission, etc. If he doesn't like you, he may occasional give you a random fine (draft picks losses would be a bit to harsh and realistic). All that money goes into the pot and gets reattributed to the whole league at certain points in the season. I like the idea of sending the money out near the end of the season as it would help create a little extra buffer for newbies that didn't plan well for the end of season financial crush. |

He could be the authority to fine unsportsmanlike conducts of teams, like those who punt every next dirst downs, teams that use ridiculuos playbooks/roster/tactics.
I know that is a dangerous power in the hands of one person, but if the Commisioner himself can be fined after a season of bad management, then the balance can be found. P.S. Sorry ... I understood thet th Commissioner was a human position, elected by the team managers. I didn't realize it was a computer-managed role. My post must be read under the idea of a person that controls the behaviours of other managers in his own league. Last edited on 2016-12-28 18:51:57 by Yashin |
