If Team A loses and Team A had some of its highest rated players out of the depth chart then Team A was tanking?

If you find a way to detect this automatically...I didn't. How about teams punting on 1st/2nd/3rd down? |

How to make sure they did not "by mistake"?

If you find a way to detect this automatically...I didn't. If we want to detect 100% of the cases it will be almost impossible. However we can find ways to have an algorithm detecting some to most of the cases. The most important for me is to limit the practice and of course to not punish "wrong teams". I think we can consider that a team does not really want to win a game if: - punt or kick on every down or once they are at a certain distance for the goalline - play more than 25% (figure to be discussed) of its players on a wrong position |

How to make sure they did not "by mistake"? I have no problem with this. You learn by doing mistakes. I lost many games by doing mistakes. A mistake is the manager responsability, not the game or the engine. I think I read many posts from you in line with this. We all have a PB checker. We all have the opportunity to test it on scrimmage or friendlies. And most of all, even if it is by mistake, the result is the same: the competition fairness is altered. Keep in mind, the Commi would act, since it is a fully automated piece of software. So a machine would punish a manager in one way or another...I'm not sure if this is a good idea

For example we could have written in red, somewhere on every page, "Commi is watching you" Last edited on 2017-01-02 15:14:58 by Jonny Utah |

I personnaly want the commish to act in this case. If a team lose badly on purpose and this affect clearly the PO/Relegation picture, I do not think it should benefit from the commish work. Once again, not sure how easy/difficult it would be, but an obvious punishment could be losing spots on the draft. A team could still lose on purpose if they want, but there is a price to pay. |

That would be like taking away a draft pick due to cold weather impacts on ball inflation. Too unrealistic
But seriously, draft picks would be kind of harsh. Maybe start with fines? They could be percentages with floors like "5% with a minimum of $100,000". That could pull some money out of the game, and still take away a lot of the incentive for tanking. Could start out with just a warning, escalate to increasing fines, maybe to the point of losing a draft pick (for consistently ignoring the Commi and destroying your cell phone).
