I doubt very much that Pete designed the game so that the teams had a lot of money.

I believe that having an excessive amount of money could be considered a bug.

Applying a tax would just be punishing the people who have been playing the game "correctly" based on the current design. It would be invalidating a perfectly reasonable tactic.

Perhaps (according to Pete's suggestion) if would be interesting to apply strict taxes to people who accumulate too much money, forcing them to play with the rest under the same conditions.

Besides, we can set up, once and for all, the salary cap in the game (IMO, The Final Solution).

I'd have no problem with a salary cap, but a tax on savings would only punish those who have been sensible with their finances and managed to achieve success while also keeping a tight grip over their own expenditure.

I agree no saving tax period. Salary cap, or income tax are fine.

Why should teams be pushed for keeping lower wages. Most of my saved money came form before elite. Where a team of 38 to 40 skilled players could win you the championships.

...it still can....

Most of my time in Elite I have had very few players with a stat much above 40. However they had a lot of stats AT 40.

It has only been the last couple of seasons when I've pushed my starters above that level.

I'm interested to see where the current systen takes teams. However much money someone has it will eventually run out if they over spend. The theory is that by getting to the playoffs the extra income will make up for the over spending, how many people are taking this approach though? If three or more people in a region are building their bank for this only two can make it to Elite playoffs. I'm wondering if we're on the brink of some serious arms races and it could be fun to watch!

I also once lost a big time player due to two road games... I think, it's clear to everybody to save up money for the season rollover, I think it is not transparent enough, that after rollover, you might need another 2 weeks of expenses on the high side, if your schedule gets that unlucky. That's a minor glitch that most learn by experience. But it would be nice, if it would be mentioned in the season rollover mail, that even after rollover, you are not guaranteed a home game right away...

I think 1 extra week before bankruptcy penalties could alleviate some bad schedule pains.

i also stepped in this offseason trap.

when i got the financial warning message i immediately tried to sell players, but "transfermarket is closed till season rollover".
After opening of transfermarket i put some players on the list, but got fined even before one player could be sold. Until now i have 3 players cut, and all my facilities are shutted down due to not enough income.

so, in my case, generating a period of no income and in the same time almost shutting down the player transfer option, hit my team hard.

This is what we will send out to every managers 2 (real) weeks before seasonrollover, so one (real) week before the "Guide through Offseason" PM.

It is called "The Offseason and how to survive it from an economical point of view - DO NOT MISS"

Dear Manager,

The Offseason is coming nearer, and therefore a time where some teams struggle with their finances.

MOST IMPORTANT: DO NOT ACT LAST MINUTE! Check your finances, the projected forecast, and act based on what you see there!

Keep in mind: you will play less official games and therefore earn less money from tickets. Playing Friendly games on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday ist recommended, but won't solve the situation if your team is running on the financial edge!

The Transfermarket and HR Department will close. If you need to sell players, or hire different coaches, act fast. Check the calendar on your teams homepage for more details.

If you run the HR Department (contract mode), finish your contract work not last minute. And do not forget to promote your Youngsters from the Youth academy to your senior team!

If you need more information, check the calendar on your teams homepage, read the manual and FAQ. For questions, please go to the Forums. Plenty of helping managers are waiting there to help you!

KEEP YOUR FINANCES IN SHAPE!

Regards
Game Administration

I guess, nobody can say he did not receive any warnings...

I think just adding the line...

Also, consider that you may or may not play home games in the first one or two weeks of the league schedule of the upcoming season.

would be enough.
