As for the penalties. Don't go in debt. I didn't and most new managers didn't either. I'm guessing you didn't manage your finances very well. im just going to put this here real quick if anyone missed it, i mean you might have so just in case janos wrote:
I am not an intense RZA manager, so I do not create spreadsheets on week-to-week incomes and expenditures. I knew I needed to cut some players and have done so in advance, but tried to keep the most of them possible to maintain squad strength. Therefore I reached ca. 0 balance. From this point it is hard to recover, bc the very "small" -500k treshold comparing to a weekly 6M expenditure. Only spectator income helps. If the best players are cut and the morale is decreased it makes winning more difficult and no. of spectators decreases. If a credit income is introduced I do not see the reason, why highest payed players can't stay. Deactivating facilities, zeroing YA extra TP seem to be punishments for inaction. Financially they do not mean anything. so yeah, don't go into debt |

Maybe that's what I'm doing wrong. I don't use any kind of formulas and I have never run a spreadsheet or anything other than a piece of paper and pen.
Oh wait. I have also made notes in the notepad pete provides us. Usually only about TM players. Back on topic - Hey pete, I do think an extra game week grace period before penalties could be positive for new managers trying to learn the game. Give them a chance to sell a $$ player instead of just losing him/them. Last edited on 2017-01-08 21:15:07 by punch drunk |

Sorry, but seriously:
New managers should read, alot, before they start doing things. There are mentors, there is the forum, there is my guide, the manual and so on. If a manager STILL goes into dept, well, first thing he should do, if it is really serious, go into the forum and ask for help. The player cutting happens at level 3, which gives every manager 2 updates to react, which is a week. If a managers can't do this, ask for help, if he is new or don't know what to do, well .... maybe it's not the right game for him or her. For sure there are things which could be more transparant, but nobody says it's a game for braindead. |

I doubt an extra week would change anything. These guys ignore the warnings they receive from the first minute they are in the red. The PMs they receive state clear what will happen. If a manager ignores this until wanring-level 3 (kicking players), it his his/her fault. The extra week will cause ONE thing: these managers wait another week before asking for help...

You are absolutely right, but in the offseason, there is nothing what the manager can do to fix it. This is especially tough for new managers, who think their finances are ok ( as they might have approx. 1 Mio$ per u p d a t e costs but a full stadium) It feels it is too harsh a penalty for being in the red for a controlable amount of time. I think we risk losing new mangers due to frustration during this time if it is not the overpriced veteran, which was cut, but last years great first round pick. Maybe an option is to offset the harshest penalites in the offseaon if a team has bigger weekly income than expenses and will be back in positive numbers in foreseeable time. Make them pay ridiculous interest rates as a black eye, but don't cut players |
