I've only just seen the score myself. I am shocked to have won by that margin! Gg though mate. Playing Mr Gorilla taught me a lot about defensive play and it seems to have paid off. We may well meet again in the playoffs!
Some good games around the tournament so far, especially in our decider games. Thanks to all who have been eliminated and my review to follow tomorrow and a playoffs spotlight over the weekend hopefully before Wednesday at the latest. |

The group stage is finally over and what a week we have had for week 3!!
Group 1 was already decided but Erdington Doleys put in a big defensive display to hold back the Academicals and seal 1st position in the group. Maryland Drivers saw off the Morgantown Mad Dogs in the 3rd place playoff to end a frustrating tournament for both teams, hopefully they will return stronger for the next edition of this tournament and improve on their rather close scorelines over the top 2. Thank you to Drivers and Mad Dogs for their participation. Group 2 also decided before the games yesterday but that didn't stop The Golden Taints coming up big in Munich and seeing off the Saints by a single TD. But enough to secure their progression. Jaxinburgh SteelCats failed to register a score in the 3rd place playoff and finish bottom of their group with 3 straight defeats, all by considerable margins. Still only a consolation for the Bees who would have targetted a final appearance considering their previous successes. Thanks to Bees and SteelCats for entering. Group 3, the group I couldn't call. And the team I backed in .95 Colts failed to fa l t e r the Hurricanes as they slumped to a very heavy defeat in France. Hurricanes securing top spot and asserting their dominance in this group as they flex their muscles with the daunting task of having to pass the high hitting Adventurers or the team good enough to beat them en route to the final. The decider game for qualification here saw a gulf in scoreline I didn't expect to see, but nonetheless GLADIATORS have recovered well from their week 1 set back and really asserted themselves as contenders heading into the knockout stage. Samurais will be still stinging from the game against the Hurricanes and falling 2 points short has ultimately cost them big style. A lot of promise from this young team and one to watch. Thank you to Samurais and Colts for their participation. Group 4 saw Adventurers round off their hat trick of spankings in their division. Despite scoring their lowest total yet, it was still too much for the n00bs. n00bs suffered in this tournament and will have a fair few learning points going forward but Adventurers didn't seem phased by challengers so far, Group 3 need to be ready. Despite an early hammering by Adventurers (twice in as many days), Comagena Lions fought back in the group well to secure 2nd spot, in what looked like comfortable fashion if you cover over week 1's result. The Griffins didn't seem to use their field advantage to the max and it eventually cost them, failing to score until the second half and then failing to convert those scores into TDs, something which the Lions never struggled to do. They came close but ultimately the experience and ruthless offence prevailed. Thanks to the Griffins and n00bs for their participation. Well, that rounds off our group stage. Some highs and lows depending on which coach you are but onwards and upward to the knockout stages, where I have a sneaky feeling upsets are on the horizon. All four games look juicy...my preview to follow... |

The Saints were as good as I thought they were. Very competitive team. Impressive management.

Athos I've seen the play that cost you and those midges 15:00 Cointoss won by Hebridean Academicals, decide to kick off 15:00 Keir Dewar (K) kicks the ball for 54, Greg Clarkson (KR/R) returns, tackled by Logan MacBrayne (G/L), this was a 12 yards return, offense is on the field now, 1 and 10 on own 23 more After that it was all downhill mate |
