We've got a young team so your self-proclaimed 'analysis' is well off ... if you'd called us something like apprentice teuchtars - well that'd be a quality zinger! |

And today it begins...in around 2 hours from this post the playoffs get under way. Some close games in the group stages have led to a thrilling climax last week and a lot of anticipation for the favourites in their games to get the job done and progress close to the coveted final game...and an undercurrent of determination as each and every team has rightfully earned their place here and none should be taken lightly!!
GAME 1! 15:00:00 Comagena Lions-vs-Herrington Hurricanes A first meeting for these two outfits and a very good meeting it shall be! The experience of the Lions vs the raw determination of the Hurricanes. Both sides have had a good finish to their campaigns but the Lions will be feeling slightly more worried as one of only two teams with negative points difference from groups in the playoffs. Especially playing off against the fourth highest scorers, away from home. Hurricanes have only lost 1 competitive match in 7 yet Lions winning far less, will not be phased by this. Anything can happen on the night, but the betting man goes with the Hurricanes. Will the Lions roar? Or will the Hurricane whirl them away? GAME 2! 16:00:00 The Golden Taints-vs-Hebridean Academicals A mouth watering tie up second with the rising stars of the Taints taking on the experienced clan from the northern realm, the Accies. A previous friendly win for the Accies won't mean a lot here. The Accies the second of two sides to pose a negative points difference from groups in the playoffs, should be worried about the Taints and their rising offense, scoring a cool 8 points per game more in the groups than the Scots. Many will favour the Accies for their experience and this underestimation plays right into the hands of the Taints. I know personally how strong they are looking this season and will end up clashing with them myself no doubt. Will the Taints shine golden? Or will the Highland games prove too much of a test for Uncle Sam's prodigy? GAME 3! 19:00:00 Adventurers-vs- GLADIATORS A clash of the giants in the playoffs. 0.1% difference in overall suggests this match will be as close as I believe it is. Two dominant scorelines after their initial slip up will fill the GLADIATORS with some confidence going into the game, but it will be hard to match the Adventurers on their form. The best team both sides of the ball in group stages and all away from home. So a trip to the Colosseum won't phase them. Again a betting man would go with the Brits here and who can blame them on the stats, but the GLADIATORS are no pushovers, 6 trophies to their name including the Coppa Italia this season already. Italy's best vs Britain's finest. Will the GLADIATORS get the thumbs down? Or will the Adventurers lose their map to the end zone? GAME 4! 21:00:00 Munich Saints-vs-Erdington Doleys Rounding off our playoff round this week is a clash of the old enemy. The Germans come to the home of the Doleys, a place much feared by teams recently and a place the Doleys aren't too often overturned. The Saints are more than capable of upsetting the Doleys however, boasting a monstrous 40 points per game in group stages, they should very well back their offence even though. Even if, as the Accies found out, the Doleys average more sacks than Alan Sugar. Both having flying seasons inside and outside of this competition and both will be looking at the final as a minimum target. But sadly for them, both of them cannot be there. A nice, close contest to finish the playoffs but the big question is: Will the Saints be caught sinning? Or will the Doleys be caught dossing? So many questions and so little time until we find them out...best of luck to all teams and I will see you on the other side!! (Except the Saints...see you at 9) WHO WILL PREVAIL??? |

And to be honest we didn't really deserve to go any further than this - we weren't on it ....... only one good group game. Otherwise, one VERY lucky win....... and one hell of a beating - as a Norwegian commentator would say. All the very best of luck to the remaining combatants, and if we still qualify (we're a very slow progress team!) - we'll be back. |

It was a very tight game until the 2nd half. I couldn't match up with your passing offense. Without the interceptions, I wouldn't have been able to pull this one out.
