Well, it's a game and it does allow it.
In real live players do play on different positions. The higher the level, the less it happens, but the game does have several levels of playing and it will not have different rules for each level, at least not on all rules.

I personally did play QB, WR, CB, RB, FB, LB, SF, KR, G and Blocker on Special teams.

I'm with you that this looks a bit odd, when a QB gets converted to OL, but it works and it does not really hurt anyone, from my point of view.

OOPPs don't really address the main issue. I shouldn't be able to take a QB and turn him into an OL. I shouldn't be able to take a CB and turn him into a DL. A CB with 50 strength relative to his position doesn't have 50 strength relative to your average DL.

The ability to convert players willy-nilly in this game is just ridiculous. Real life players have different body types. Player conversions should be restricted to those body types.

I agree with you. That is why I think that OOP Penalties should be vicious. Of course it still doesn't address the main issue. Much more work is needed to do so.

OOPP only effect a player playing a different position than assigned. I am bringing up the issue of body type. It is completely unrealistic to take a 180 pound QB and put him on the O-line. It doesn't happen in real life.

I am breathing new life to this conversation with a little bit of a twist because I think it ties in with the Discussion going on about FB vs RB and the SGx formations.

My "suggestion" would be to put a physical and/or skill cap on positions.

To illustrate this better, let's pretend we have a player that has all physicals and skills at 50. If I were to play this player at FB, even though he has Spd 50, the engine would re-cap his speed at something lower, let's just randomly call it 38 and his carry at (random number again) 40. But if this player is played at HB, his Spd and carry can reach 50, but maybe his Str caps at 40. These "caps" could be set for every position and work like special traits that are position specific (a player with track star doesn't get that bonus on the DL, but gets that bonus if moved to LB, for example).

I would disagree with these type of OPP. The game already penalizes you plus a lot of players that are out of position are playing where there is no assistant coach. So they are losing out there too.
