I would like to have your advice on how to generate interceptions.
By reading the manual, I first thought that high intelligence of the defender was one of the main parameters. But my two best cornerbacks have 50 intelligence so as my MLBs but I have just managed to get 3 interceptions until now in league games (I'm ranked 30th in that category).
I also thought that creating pressure on the QB would help me get interceptions. I'm ranked 3rd in the category sacks so I think that I must be putting sufficient pressure on the QB. I noticed at the same time that the teams ranked high in sacks are ranked low in interceptions. Those that means that blitzing too much gives you less chance for an interception as your MLB is chasing the QB?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I believe that Intelligence and Positioning both help. Beyond that I'm not sure. Maybe speed? Maybe your players have low Experience?

Lots of people place intel as a priority. Too high in my opinion.

"Dumb" players also make interceptions...

As for Blitz vs Interceptiion. The more times the QB is on his back the less times the ball is in the air. Seems that high pressure leads to more "hurries" too that ens up being more incomplete's than INT's here at RZA.

Also while there are blitzers, especially the MLB, there are fewer players in the zone playing coverage to make those picks.

Catching could help, the manual says "Defenders can use it on intercepting a pass".

To make an Interception, you need only a few things!

First of all the snap has to be OK. The blocks (pass protection) by the OL has to be successful. The QB has to throw. The defender has to have that special feeling "Uh, this could be into my direction". He has to beat the Receiver in terms of "quickness". He has to put himself into a better position on the field compared to that receiver. Finally, he has to make a catch. And once he made that catch, he might be able to return that interception using all these skills a runningback is usually using.

So, just a few coincidences and some skills...

MY advice: Look at your defenders. Look at your pass catchers. See the difference? Work on that.

Only difference I see is that the WRs have lots of catch and the CBs have lots of tackle. You suggesting we should have less tackling and more catching on our CBs?

Not less tackling, but more catching. I'm still tinkering with my ideas, but since I've started shifting my focus, my defense made a giant performance leap and is now almost 10% better than my offense.

Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts on this matter with me.

In fact my best CB has above 37 in Catching, that goes with 45 in Vision and 43 in Positionning. So I don't think that my CB is really lacking anything special compared with the WR he is facing. Maybe Agility as it is stuck at 35 with the Cap.

I also agree that Intelligence seems to be overrated for interceptions.

As Pete has mentionned in his post, there is probably something that I must be missing along the development of a pass play...

In my opinion (and my experience backs this up), the ratio of WR Intelligence vs cover player Intelligence is a key factor in Interceptions.
