Dear managers,
I would like to do something against tanking in league games, if it was done in an offending, obvious manner. Criteria could be punting or kicking FG from everywhere on the field. The further idea is to raise the influence of "how nice is a manager playing football" to the ticket and fanshop sales. I mean, no single fan would purchase a ticket for a game to see his team punting on 1st downs all game long. Now, this penalty (yes, this is a penalty) should be harsh enough to hit the finances badly. Right now, the manager would still sell 100k tickets. Imagine, we would shrink down this to something like 10k, and void all fanshop sales to nothing. Annother one could be losing the first round draft pick. I guess, there would be several levels of warnings, like they are for financial warnings. I'm not done with thinking about the actions of the League Authority. However, we have no human commish to do that. During the commish discussion in "Suggestions" this was raised, and I made my concerns public how dificult it would be to find such managers, to make a good decision based on the games outcome. And this is where I need your help. I ask you to file a tanking report, once you think it would be hardcore tanking. This report should include the team in question, a number of league match ids where you found tanking. It should contain the reason why you thin it is tanking.. Such a report could look like Guinness Drinkers United, team id 3603 Matches: 1, 2, 4, 7, 12 Team is punting on first down all game long. Now take care, if you put any names, IDs or reports inside the forums, I would have to ban you from the forums. Therefore I ask you to write such reports, and send it via PM to me , ONLY VIA PM!!! Thanks for your help. Please don't expect me to answer each single report, but I promise, I will read them all. And I can tell you, it will help me a lot with keeping this game interesting across all league levels. |

Excellent idea. Two questions:
1. Is it possible (i.e. easy) to code such as to make it impossible to a) Punt except on 4th down, and b) to kick a FG from beyond the opponents 45 except within the last 30 secs of a game where your team is behind by 0-3? (the 0 is intended because it allows for a tied score). 2. Could the report also include teams who have an excessive number of players at one position? Whilst this may not be tanking per se it does indicate a manager who is trying to exploit the game (and therefore is likely to exploit other loopholes). It certainly would have fans being turned off both in attending matches and buying from the fan shop. |

We should cover this once we have the commish. However, the penalties are quite similar, for sure. |

Don't put the FG cutoff @ >45.. BaD bad bAd idea.
If it ever comes to it than maybe >55 . And no pete I'm not tanking - my team really sucks. |

I am fine with this. Just don't penalize a team for attempting a field goal on 1st 2nd 3rd or 4th down when there is less than a 1min in the half.

Again, this would never be about a single situation. You cannot tank by trying a "hail mary field goal" once in each half..

You do not precise it, but I think people should send reports only on the future games. |
