The most consuming task is the database backup. It takes several hours to complete, from roughly 11:30 pm to 2 am UTC...this is the task I wwas moving to around 6 am UTC now...and beside a few improvements on other maintenance tasks it should solve the issues in the (not late) evening for our US citizens. It causes some trouble for the early birds in Europe...but according to our web stats, this should be the more community friendly approach #OneWorld It is usually slow for me during the same hours others mentioned at night (EST) for me as well, but sometimes I can get around it. I either watch tv while I wait a couple minutes for the page to load, or if that doesn't work, I exit and start over. The waiting time seems to go up and down. There are periods during the night when the site works perfectly fine, then it might slow down again. Other smaller sites work fine for me. I've learned to accept the maintenance time, but I'll be happy if a change helps us out in the US without it affecting many other people. |

It is going up and down because it goes down only when we backup hugae database tables like the playbyplay, stats or players....makes perfectly sense

Only time I've noticed it's bad is when it's the end of the day roll over. Although last Friday in the United States it was bad in the afternoon.

For a game like this, there is no perfect time to do maintenance, because there are people playing globally. It's like the old excuse to drink "it's 5:00 o'clock somewhere clock".

The thing is: if I could switch of the page for 2 hours each day, I could all the maintenance in this time, and much faster than on a server under load...But yes. We will see what happens with this change of the maintenance window to 6 am

What happened yesterday? Update/backup did not finish until well after 1000GMT and then I could not watch my Thunder game live at 1200GMT. Once before on a Saturday update/backup has not finished by 1100GMT. This does not help players in Thunder Region. |

I am still checking logs, and I am not sure what was different yesterday. I found nothing suspicious yet, but my monitoring tools have shown issues during yesterday from the morning until around 1 pm...still checking
