After my teams latest debacle, I am starting to think that Tackling is really the most important skill to train my WRs in.

How well do you train them at postioning compared to catching?

Equally. The problem is that picks are going to happen no matter what. And most picks end up resulting in a score (after 3 or 4 failed tackle attempts). And a large portion of my opponents scores come from picks. So I am starting to think I might be better off with WRs who can tackle the opponent. It would greatly limit the amount of TDs my team gives up.

Or just convert CBs to WR and train their Catching skill. CBs are cheaper to buy than WRs.

It could depend on whether the WRs are even getting a chance to make a tackle. If the scores are coming off interceptors who are breaking tackles to do it then yeah train tackle, if not you might be wasting time on it? What about vision on your WRs?

I'm usually seeing about 3 missed tackles after most interceptions. That's why I had the thought.
Yeah, I keep Positioning, Catching, and Vision all around the same. Usually Catching is 2-3 points higher, but a pretty negligible difference. Last edited on 2017-02-10 07:53:44 by Rock777 |

If you're seeing the missed tackles then yeah tackling could be a good way forward

In my previous experience (disaster ) in 1.1 I was submerged by interceptions and I found Vision on WR to be a must have, so I started a training campaign on receivers and Tight End. In the current season I still have double digit interceptions, but at 3 matches from the end the amount is more than halved.
I see you didn't do my past mistake, so I suggest you the second intervention I put into action : Positioning on QBs. I noticed that my my backup QB, who was a lower passer and worst at Vision than the first string, had a percentage of interceptions/plays ratio less than half. Comparing skills I saw that his Position was way higher than the poor 10.5 of the first string, so I spent all the past season working on it. This year, together with receivers Vision, I didn't suffer 3-6 Interceptions per game, nut a more physiological 1.5 per game. My comprehension is that Positioning is not only a skill for being on the right spot on the field, but for QB also to place the ball in the right hands |

That's a very interesting theory. I have a young skilled QB, so I could afford to do some position training (right now I've been training extra in Carry). Another thing to consider is that your second string is more likely to be facing lesser competition which would also keep his INT down. Especially if you are deep at WR.

Rock I told you many times that you can compete with low skilled interior lineman. You keep fighting this.
