Over the last couple of weeks I've working on a website, predominately concentrating on the possibility of a NFL franchise based in the UK.

I'm looking for contributors if your interested.

I want to cover the history of the game outside of America i.e the appeal of the London games, NFL Europe etc

The history of new franchises.

The state of the game across Europe (Grass roots)

There are so many areas that can be examined - I'd be really interested to hear your opinions or experiences of the game.

My e-mail is phil-walton@hotmail.co.uk

A link to the website:

I apologise in advance if this breaks forum protocol and I will immediately delete if it offends.

However, if you'd like to contribute I'd be delighted to hear from you

I've never heard anyone answer this question...who would actually be able to buy a team and bring them to the UK? There doesn't seem to be any billionaires around that have shown any interest in bringing a team here so until that happens nothing can change unfortunately.

Well, most teams are no longer bought by single owners, but by a group of owners.
And UK has rich enough people to do so.
However it is true that so far nothing was heard regarding a real pitch from the UK towards a franchise.
There were rumors of for example putting the Jacksonville franchise into the UK, but that won't happen without some owners buying it.

To be honest, the London Monarchs were the first franchise exiting the NFL Europe so I think this would be a bad choice, regardless the 2 or 3 regular games they play since a few seasons.
It's one thing to support 2 or 3 games and another to support a home team.

The rumours regarding the Jags stem from the fact the owner Mr Khan owns Fulham FC and has strong links to England and the U.K. Being Pakistani and the only NFL owner who understands cricket!!

The reason that the NFL Europe franchise the London Monarchs failed was because st the end of the day it wasn't NFL standard football it was an inferior product. Look at the reception and growth of The NFL games in London proper as evidence of how an NFL franchise would be received not the NFL europe. You need to understand the audience and why it interests the NFL so much.

First we start with the relationship between US and GB. Then we look at London, a city of 8.63 million and that the Franchise would be a U.K. Supported franchise with a fan base of 64.3 milion. The stadium are there the infrastructure is there. A UK based franchise could be based at Wembley but play game at the Millenium (Principality)in wales, at Croke Park in Dublin, at Old Trafford or Tickenham in London or Murrayfield in Scotland even.

The NFL will expand globally before long and London will be its first franchise globally. The UK TV and media companies are massive globally, the NFL is a business and as a prime example has courted and spotted the international influence of the BBC giving them rights to games that perhaps it doesn't financially win bids for. The relationship with BBC is a worldwide investment giving it access to markets it's never really made inroads in.

It is. Not lost on the NFL that there only rival in terms of financial power is the English Premier league. Every NFL game the top professional footballers in the U.K. Go and mix with the NFL stars.

The NFL has offices on the ground in the U.K. Mexico Canada and China as I recall. I will bet you all your next five first round draft picks the NFL expands to London for the reason I have stated above first. It has to move global the last big US market was LA now next is the world!!

Something deep inside me "believes" the first foreign NFL team will have the name of a german city in it. If not the first, then the second. Not because Im german. I couldnt care less where NFL teams are...The reason is different. The NFL did a lot to provide NFL Football ti Germans, including the support for Pro7Maxx. Yes, I believe there is huge support behind the curtain. And, last but not least, I found no better reason why the NFL should create hopes like Böhringer or even Baba (signed out of a German Football team as well) - except if you label these activities "marketing" to prepare a new local market....Yes, this is just a feeling, and it is not very strong. Other countries might feel the same...and I don't follow this topic close enough to be an "expert"...

Well the NBA has the overseas basketball system and even people getting drafted from other countries, so I think it would be possible for the NFL to create something to that effect, I'd personally love to see it. They're already making a D-League that'll play in the spring time so I won't rule out overseas becoming a thing

I'm certain that's what you read.

I think the confusion is due to the fact that the NFL (league officials/coaches) has stated interest in creating a developmental arm. That news continues to trickle out, but the NFL has yet to act.

Well they also mentioned NFL Free Agents being in this league so I think when people saw that on top of the NFL's interest in a D-League it just made sense to assume that they're linked
