Budapest Wolves @ Deflators

Budapest Wolves:

1) You have a 3 season absence from the elite league. What are your expectations going into your divisional playoff game?

We had financial problems at season start, and had to cut some key players, for eg. 1st QB. The team is in the phase of rebiulding, contracted new AC's. Our finance is relatively stabilized. Despite all the challenges, we achieved 6th spot with 9-7, and now are in the divisional PO, which is quite remarkable.

2) Is it fair to say your key offensive man has had mixed success this season? Nagy is 2nd Rushing Yards, 3rd broken tackles but only 7th for touchdowns much like your receiver Madaras who is 3rd for receiving yards but doesn't seem to be to effective in the end zone, will they need to step up there game?

We face the strongest team in the league. We are the underdogs, so the pressure is on them to go through.

3) Garvey has the most passing yards, 2nd For passing TDs. Dulman 4 receiving yards. RB Landry there running back is 1st for rushing yards, Rushing Tds and broken tackles. OL Tadin is 2nd for pancakes and 2 Linebacks that are 1st and 2nd for sacks.

How do you play against a side that has been so dangerous and has so much success this season?

As we all know defence is key in the PO. Our RD is 1st, PD is 9th. Their's is 8th and 1st.
We believe in defense. The guys are prepared to go for their game of life.
Let's see what happens.

Deflators

1) Garvey has the most passing yards, 2nd For passing TDs. Dulman 4th for receiving yards. RB Landry your running back is 1st for rushing yards, Rushing TDs and broken tackles. OL Tadin is 2nd for pancakes and 2 Linebacks that are 1st and 2nd for sacks.

How pleased are you with your teams success this season and what are your expectations going into the playoffs?

It's always pleasing to know when the hard work you put into developing your team pays off. Initially we were hoping for at least the Conference Championship, but with Vienna Falcons unfortunate demise, now it's Bowl or Bust. Kind of sad though 'cause I was really looking forward to that rubber match.

2) How big a clash do you see this tie? Budapest have more Elite experience than yourselves but has spent 3 seasons now at 1.1

Anything can happen in these playoff games, and we should know, having been on both sides of that fence. But if we handle our business like I know we can, we should put them away with not too much trouble.

3) You are favourite for the Bowl, do you feel you are more prepared this time for Elite level than you were last time should you make the return?

Yes, but most likely not enough to make a difference. The level of difficulty spike between 1.1 and Elite is a steep one, and it may take several seasons before we're fully ready, if at all.

Preston Plumbers@ Wolflings

Preston Plumbers

1) you lost against these opponents earlier this season but has won 2 of the last 3 meetings. Despite your winning record do you feel you are more underdogs to progress?

Wolfings are older, have a much higher overall rating, cost twice as much salary wise. The game is theirs to lose. No one thinks we will win this. There is no pressure on us here, the pressure is on them, we just have to go out there and enjoy the day out!!

2) How do you prepare against a side with a 15-1 record with no standout player statically?

Roll the dice, and pray to land two sixes. To win is going to require a lot of cards to fall into place, a perfect storm if you will but that doesn't happen often so we ain't losing sleep over it!!

3) You coming to the end of the 7 the season of your RZA managerial career. How much work needs to be done this off-season for you to progress as a franchise.

The first three to four seasons you can write off really, I wasn't trying or really looking at what I was doing, I slowly got into the game. As for the future....

The groundwork is done, time will give us the improvements we need as we gain experience and players get stronger. If an opportunity comes to take a player to make us better then we make a move but within our budgets and our methodology. We are getting stronger each year and so long as that trend continues we will get where we aim to be.

Wolflings

1) You finished the season with a 15-1 record, What are your expectations going into your playoff campaign?

The 15-1 record greatly overstates the strength of the team. Our PFA is 491:218 which does not compare well with some other teams. We are just hoping for a close and exciting game.

2) You have the 4th best defence in thunder 1.1 but has no standout player statistically this season either side of the ball, What do you put your success down to this season?

A solid defence, one of the best special teams and loads of luck.

3) How far off do you feel you are as a franchise to effectively challenge for a place in the Elite league?

Its becoming much harder to find affordable players that would significantly boost the strength of the team. We do not expect to present a challenge to an Elite level team anytime soon.

Flerschem Flieger@ M. Divers

Flerschem Fliegers

1) This is the second time you have played these opponents losing the first earlier this season 6-27. Do you set up any differently to try and get a result in what will be a tough match?

2) Your opposing receiver Darisic is second in the league for receiving yards. Do you provide any special treatment to the receiver to give yourself a fighting chance?

3) What are your expectations going into the playoffs?

M.Divers

1) Darisic is second in the league for receiving yards. How crucial is it he remains on form to not put to much pressure on your kicker who is 1st in the league for field goals.

He is always huge in the passing game.

2) You have the third best offence in the Conference but Flerschem have the better defensive record in the Conference conceding 18 fewer points, How do you expect this tie to play out?

A defensive battle where turnovers and field position our key.

3) You are favourite to make the Thunder Bowl, do you feel you are more prepared for that level of football than you were first time round?

No. With my new job I simply don't have the time I use to for game planning.

Basterds @ Amersfoort Alligators

Basterds
1) Your last two meetings with this opposition has been thrillers with Amersfoort Alligators winning by 2 and 3 points respectively. What are you expecting from this tie?

I think it will be another close one - lucky me I'm not able to watch it on saturday as i'm skiing.

2) This tie is a repeat of last seasons wildcard match when you went out the playoffs. Are you out for revenge? And how do you set up against a side that can clearly cause you problems?

To be honest: Yes, I want the revenge! Couldn't (and didn't want to) change a whole lot. I just hope my guys will perform a tiny bit better than our last games.

3) What are your expectations in this seasons playoffs campaign after beating Toledo Tigers in the last round?

Well, looking from game to game. No expectations at all...

Thanks to you for doing this and good luck for Cheesehead. Always a plessure to meet him in the PO

Amersfoort Alligators

1) Your last two meetings with this opposition has been thrillers with Amersfoort Alligators winning by 2 and 3 points respectively. What are you expecting from this tie?

I expect another trhiller tbh. For some reasons our teams seem evenly matched. It mostly came down to turn overs so if you take those away it's a different story though.

2) This tie is a repeat of last seasons wildcard match when you knocked Basterds out the playoffs. How do you guard against complacency and cause double the pain for your opposition?

Getting to the 1.1 bowl for the first time ever is enough motivation alone. Then add the prospect of promotion to Elite. Then add the competitive nature of the manager and finally add the really good natured rivalry between jetto and me and you can see that there will be no shortage of motivation here!

3) What are your expectations going into this seasons playoffs?

As I skipped the wild card for the first time ever I knew I was only one game away from the bowl and Elite. In previous seasons I was only focusing on the wildcard round and to get to the divisional play-off game seemed like a goal in itself. Now the div play off is my first game in the POs, it really changes the dynamic: I'm not just content to participate in the POs, hell, I want to win the darn thing as well now! The winners in the last two years are an inspiration here. And having been in Elite changes how people see your team. I see Deflators as one of the best teams now while before they were just another team competing in 1.1. That's what promotion to Elite does to you: it gives you recognition.

RZA was down this morning

Managed to get 1/3 of my last minute planning in after it came up 45 mins ago via my mobile while walking through a forest in the rain.

Anything for a win...
