At the start of each season, you would tag two players to be your hybrid players.

Initially, I think one player on offense and one player on defense would be a good start.

These players would be immune from out of position penalties for certain positions, depending on whether they are on offense or defense.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

For your offensive hybrid player, you could choose one of the following;

(RB / FB) or (WR / TE) or (TE / OL)

For your defensive hybrid player, you could choose one of the following;

(DL / LB) or (LB / SF) or (CB / SF)

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

This hybrid tag would last for the whole season, so you would need to plan who to give it to. You would not be able to change it midseason.

At season rollover, the tag would be removed, and you can choose another player to give it to. You could choose to tag the same player again, if you wished.

Any thoughts?

I like the idea, but imo such a hybrid player should be free to play any position within his "unit".

Just think of Cam Newton (QB/RB) or James White (RB/WR), imo you can't bring up the idea of a hybrid player and then try to limit it to certain position pairings, because those positions always depend on the players skills, and if I have a player who is able to play WR and OL, why shouldn't I be able to use him that way?

But yeah, in general I really like this suggestion.

That's a good point, and my first draft of the suggestion allowed the offensive hybrid to play all offensive positions, and the defensive hybrid to play all defensive positions.

I then changed it to those position groupings, as I suspect Pete would be against letting a player play at any position.

I love this idea. I have multiple "hybrid" players on my roster currently and I would like the chance to feature them more.

Really cool idea might have to think of a negative for this postive to happen though, like increase the OOP, drop a roster spot (down to 69) or hybrid has higher wages?

Maybe a "choose-2-positions" function. This would be a great addition, but i have no idea if this is doable.

I'm not convinced:
a) that it is helpful
b) that some wouldn't find some exploitation (I can't think of one offhand but I'm sure someone will!)

a) really depends on how your players are built. I have a couple of players who would be more useful if they were hybrids (so there is an element of self interest in this suggestion )

From the comments, it seems I'm not the only one with those kinds of players.

b) is definitely something that needs consideration. Things like training and EXP need to be looked at.

I suspect it would be easiest if he trained as his original position (i. e. LB), and within the sim was. treated as an LB for all calculations.
