Haden's play had noticeably slipped in recent seasons, perhaps due to recurring injuries and/or the situation around him affecting his play. Moving to their arch-rivals has given him something of a shot in the arm, though he's clearly not the player he was in his prime. As to the draft the Browns will have to decide if they stick with Kizer - in which case they can offer the #1 pick to the highest bidder and move down a few spots for multiple picks - or use the #1 pick on another QB (which I still think will be Sam Darnold). I'd put my money on the Browns taking the first option. Saquon Barkley should be in play for them, Crowell is no obstacle, but they still need help all over the roster. Browns want a QB and Barclay is going to the Niners with our new franchise QB. This is how it will be......because I want it to be so Last edited on 2017-12-04 14:51:01 by oakbark |

They finally did the right thing last year taking Garrett number 1, if they're going to use the number 1 pick I think they should get Barkley, to me he looks like the safest bet by far to be worth a number 1 pick, they also have 5 picks in the first 2 rounds if they want to get a QB, but then it is the Browns!

This is no reflection on Barkley who is a fantastic talent but the worth of modern RB given their shelf life and the value to be found in lower rounds at the position. The No.1 pick in a QB heavy draft when so teams have needs at the position means that if they don't pick one then its trade value outweighs a HB. Personally I think we see a new regime in Cleveland this offseason and they will go for the QB they feel will be the Face of the Franchise this year. If the Niners are at pick 2 i see the most likely scenario is a trade down to a QB needy team who has fallen for someone else. i see the Niners franchising Garrapolo this year, with intent to allow the belief they are still in for a QB in the draft to encourage teams to part with extra picks to jump up to their spot. |

Oakbark, totally true what you said about picking a RB that high, for those reasons it's probably unlikely they'll do it, I still think they should though and forget what other teams think and have done in the past
They have enough picks they could cause themselves future contract troubles by loading up on more! |

I can't see the incoming being prepared to take that risk. As for what the Browns should do with the other picks. I like the G Nelson out of Notre Dame, surest thing outside of Barkley in the draft. He's big hes's nasty he brings a real attitude and meaness to the team. Any RB is gping to look better through the next decade with him opening holes. This is the sort of player who can really influence a team. Then I would look to CB and WR with the other blue chips this year. |

on regards to Gordon's contract:
Assuming that Gordon plays in 2018, then he would be set to be a Restricted Free Agent (RFA) in 2019. The Browns could try to work a long-term deal out with Gordon, but let’s say that Gordon kind of wants to get to free agency as soon as possible. At the same time, if the Browns don’t want to risk losing Gordon (especially with no compensation) just yet, they would slap a 1st- or 2nd-round tender on him. The numbers will jump by 2019, but a 1st-round tender seems likely, which could be a 1-year deal around $5 million. If no team coughs up a first round pick for Gordon, he’d stay with the Browns through 2019. Then, finally, Gordon would be an unrestricted free agent in 2020 — eight years after he was first drafted! source: https://www.dawgsbynature.com/2017/12/4/16735148/how-long-do-the-browns-control-the-rights-to-josh-gordon |
