Out of position penalty during gameplay

The penalty for players outside the special team was raised again, as part of the plan to force managers playing their guys in the right spot.

So is the out of position penalty flat or can some position play other positions with a smaller penalty (i.e. FB to RB, CB to SF etc.).

It is still up to the manager. The game does not block it.

Edit: I just saw you do not have Safety. That probably explains your belief. If ever you decide to continue with this strategy, I'd be interrested to see the impact difference. I hope it will be big enough to make copulsory to have all the players at their true position if we want to be competitive.

I am not as harsh as Fyncril, but still at some positions there seemed to be not a lot downside last season when playing players out of position

- One team that had no FB was still running effective out of the Shotgun
- Several teams played other players at SF and it did not show in long TDs

I don't want to condemn these teams, I still think this should be a valid tactics, but there should be a downside on the field for the upside in the training room.

No gain without pain

I don't have a safety coach. I am in long term rebuilding phase and I'm training them at CB. When they his a sufficient level I will be switching the players to SF

This is completely fine. It is your tactics, and if you can deal with a few downsides of it, it is OK.

That hasn't really answered the question of whether the penalty for a CB playing SF is the same as a OL or is varying depending on the positions.

Also, is there really any point to having KRs and Gunners as a player position? Doesn't everybody really have a non-ST anyway?? It's not like we have special player position settings for STT and STBL, right?

As I understand: It is not depending which positions you switch - so if you play a LB* at SF or OL the penalty is the same. But of course the LB is better trained in SF Skills so the outcome is not that bad.

*assuming the LB is trained like a LB - just to make this clear
