Here the situation. I have my two best players retiring at the end of the season and they ask some sugar to continue.
My MLB (49/40/47 physicals, 47/47/47 in skills, 49 in INT, 5* XP) requests almost 8.5 Millions. My DT (48/36/46 physicals, 44/44/43/35 in skills, 39 in INT, 4* XP) requests almost 6 Millions. Their back-up have similar built but 10 points under in the skills. If the price was 2 millions I would not hesitate a sec. But these s*ckers clearly want to hurt my bank account (90 Millions). Talking mostly to the Elite Teams and Top Tier teams of 1.1, what would you do? |

I fired some of them considering the high salaries (what are yours?), and this big cost I'd have to pay to keep them.
I prefer giving new opportunities to back up and manage in a better way their skills and future salaries. |

I'm in the same situation so I appreciate the points of view with GMs that have the same perspective. First of all it's not only a matter of avoid-retirement-bonus, it's also a question mark about contract extension. After the X millions paid once, you have to pay expensive contracts for 1+1 extensions. Add to this that those veterans have also the +5% for Experience raising the already rich salary. This one is really tough to substitute. 8 millions are a monster fee, but without him your defense could drop significantly. In your shoes I'd keep this one. On the contrary the DT even if he is well developed, he can be replaced at the end of the season without great efforts. I'd keep him for the season while strenghtening his replacement and then let him go. 6 millions + contract extension of about 12 millions more, could be saved for some cherry-picking on transfermarket. |

You get your invite for the club! More seriously, it is just I target the promotion this season (again ) so we need to consider I would pley either in Elite or figthing another season for the 1.1 Bowl next season. Anyway thanks for your advices Yashin and Poudos. Also I should probably added that my MLB is not capped. He can reach 48.5 in skills and 50 in Agi. But I keep it lower so same money. I guess when I will be sure he is playing his last season, I will reach the cap. |

I would move your MLB to CB in a millisecond as I want my LBs with more size and I don't need that high skills there.
I would definitively keep the MLB but not the Nosetackle as a many of the better teams mostly prefer to run to the outside and that would be too much money in salary for me |

CB with only 40 in Speed? Are you sure? I like mines at 46 mini and if he wants to start he better be at 48.
As MLB he did a hell of a job so far. One INT every other game and one TD every 3 games. In 1.1, he ranks 7th on DEF TD in only 6 seasons. |

sorry I always have Speed first, strength second, so I thought 49 speed / 40 strength
I want my LBs fast, so he would not fit in my LB profile and I would probably trained him more FW, not that high skills and moved to DL |

I would fire them both if I controlled your team, that way I wouldn't have to play against them in the French Cup
More seriously I would let the DT go if you're short of cash, MLB is a more important position imo. |
