Firstly, I do not intend this as a whinge, simply pointing out a potential problem with how the draft picking order is decided. I didn't know how this would work until I went through it this season but regardless of that I think that this is something people might want to look at.
I won my division in 2.2 and was ranked 30th for the draft. However I won the promotion / relegation game and so am now in 1.1. However, despite being mathematically the worst team promoted (none of the other 2.2 teams won their promotion matches) I am still picking 30th from the 2.2 draft. My first question is, as the mathematically worst team in the 1.1, should I not be picking #1 in the 1.1 draft? (although the bot flush means there are a few extra promotions this year). My second question is, is there a difference in the quality of players between a 1.1 draft and a 2.x draft that those promoted do not have access to? A potential suggestion for this would something like this; #1 Lowest ranked promoted team 2.x #2 Next lowest 2.x #3 Next lowest 2.x #4 Best ranked promoted team 2.x #5 Lowest ranked 1.1 ... ... ... #31 Best ranked 1.1 #32 Best ranked relegated EL There is a week between Bowl games and the draft so that would give players the time to re-adjust draft boards, I do not how much of a problem it would cause for Pete technically? I expect this is something that has been discussed before but just interested to hear any feedback on how this works. |

You do not pick in 1.1 this time, technically you pick in 2.x, because there you were the season before. And since you are one of the better teams there, your pick number is one of the highest ones. This is absolutely right for me. You earn your right to pick early on the next draft, if you lose in your league 1 season...
And no, changing this is out of focus. And yes, one week to adjust is a too small time window |

I've thought about this a lot in the past, i put together plans and ideas and the then found the problems in my own designs without even bringing them to the forums for that!
I believe the strongest teams are often the ones that have just been relegated, they then also have a top draft pick. I personally think a switch like you suggest would be good for parity, after a lot of work i've not found a suitable way to achieve this though. I'm not saying there isn't a way, just that it's a minefield! Last edited on 2017-03-15 18:11:29 by Jonny Utah |

I'm not saying there isn't a way, just that it's a minefield! One problem I see straight away. The relegated and promoted teams will only get 3 days to look at the draft board. That is a lot of information to go over in so little time and must players will not find the time needed to go through the draft board in detail over such a short period. |

Exactly, and that's just one of the obstacles! |

Exactly, and that's just one of the obstacles! Pete could make it so we could look at any draft board. That way if you thought you might be getting promoted you could plan for the draft board of the league above. I agree it gets tricky, but I kind of like the idea. Its a natural defense against tanking as well. You no longer get a bonus for getting demoted. |

Teams should just draft before relegation/demotion.
