Of course he could have put him on the TM on sunday or monday...but sometime RL makes other choices?

I do agree you got shafted a bit here so as a fellow Thunder manager I will help you out. I just bid on the guy. It's not really the way I roll with my team (I am basically buying Darrelle Revis when left the Patriots) but he is a very good player and I can carry the salary easily. Perhaps he will make a crucial interception in the play-offs this season to get me to the Bowl and then I will thank you forever! :-)

wait, since when can we now put retiring players on the TM? there was nothing about that in the initial announcement at the roll over and I fired a veteran on monday rather than trying to sell him because that was not an option?

You can now put retiring players on the TM from rollover until midnight on the first Friday of the season.

yes I just learned that but since when is this possible?

EDIT: on monday, I tried just to do that for fun and got the "retiring players can not be put on the TM"-error - that was on monday.

Since this season. And yes, the news doesnt mention it clear enough, blame me. I though "getting rid" would include the choice of selling players

Pete

When you place a player on the market it doesn't state when he will end. You also gave us until today to place retirees on the market.

Thanks to Cheese I am not on the hook for 20% of my teams salary for the year which will really help my team build up. But what you are trying to accomplish of preventing teams from dumping retirees at the end of the year could be accomplished by extending the firing of players retiring by 4 days, which would allow managers to place their retiring players into the market up until to nights deadline that you made. Then have a deadline 4 or 5 days after that deadline to fire players that where not sold. Obviously, if a manager is putting on the market he doesn't want him, so if he should be given a finale opportunity to fire him if not sold. Extending the fire period for this short time will have no effect on what you where trying to accomplish and in fact it would improve what it was you where trying to accomplish giving managers the real opportunity to sell their player or fire him if not sold.

this is where you stood at 6 days ago: post

not not even firing retiring guys in the preseason was an strong option back than, and in the whole discussion going on there was not once a hint that the ban of retirees from the TM would be lifted too for that span - I suggested something like that on the last page of that thread ("trade or retirement option") but there was no indication that was in consideration. so I have no idea how other guys understood that option was being added too...

I won't defend myself for work I am putting into this thing here, really not. You should be happy having a game admin who is not settled into stone when it comes to changes.
