For the part about the family they became with this sport, I can really understand this. I have mate who are part of Noisy-le-Sec Red Stars, in Paris suburbs too, and they built their team from the scratch. It's their baby.
Now they train juniors and try to teach them a lot of value they don't always find in their homes. They really have something like a family link, something they, may be, cannot found in a soccer team because there is structure everywhere for this. Here, they have to build their team, find a field (and usually they are soooo shitty...) and often they have to switch field during the week. Some teams don't even have a field for league game ! And, for playing an official game, they have to come with their own referee. Finding money for players transports too... And seeing a game in France is always a great meeting. It attracts a lot of american residents who are pleased to watch their favorite sport in France. I am always pleased when I meet a Packers's fan, even already meet an owner. |
