There's a pronunciation difference too:

US - DEEE-fense - 1st 'e' sound is long
UK - DeFENce - 1st 'e' sound is short with a little more stress on the second syllable

This explains the signs I saw where two people next to each other are holding a D sign and a sign of a fence

So what about the fearsome trait then?

from whats been said so far, I believe its one of the below :

1) As DL's are apparently 'always' blitzing, so it applies simply by lining up opposite the QB

or

2) As DL's cant 'RZA style' blitz (as per the settings in the playbook which only apply to LBs or SFs) the trait doesn't apply to them

But I don't know which.

or 3) DEs are always blitzing. DTs are always playing the inside run?

^ that has always been my understanding of it, meaning a Fearsome DT is essentially wasting the trait, but a DE would make the best use of it, compared to LB / Safety.

its the wording of the trait that is confusing the matter I think :

Quarterbacks are scared just by this player lining up across from them. Fearsome gives a 5% chance to cause the QB to feel hurry pressure when this player is blitzing, valid for DL, SF or LB

This makes sense if, per the playbook, you could assign percentages for blitzing to all three positions - but you cant - only SF and LB.

As for the DE/DT/NT element, if they are a DL, they should blitz - much the same as you are setting LBs/SFs to blitz - not MLB or OLB, or SS or FS?

DE are always "blitzing", except they change their mind. And they give a shit on what the playbook calls, or the coach, or the manager
