I had this idea with the next draft coming, and thinking about another suggestion that was made about extending the number of franchise contracts.

The idea is that contract mode is already enough of an edge financially between players taking the time to manage their contracts and players in auto pilot mode. Giving more franchise contract will only widen this gap. The idea of rookie contracts will be to give the players more long term contracts, and so ease their management, but without providing any help paying the contracts on the elite and therefore expensive players.

The model suggested is:
-Rookie contracts are available for drafted rookies only (not from the YA)
-You can chose to sign a draftee under a rookie contract, normal contract, or franchise contract
-When signing a rookie contract you have the choice between this season + 3 or +4, but you have to pay a signing bonus cash which is gonna be higher if you chose the longer contract (5% of contract value, 10% for example)
-You can not sell a player under a rookie contract

The whole principle of this suggestion is to extend another tool to players working the HR department, as well as reinforcing the importance of building your team from the draft, as well as add some realism to the game

In this coaching system are rookies a non-factor regarding long term contracts.
The best benefit do you get when locking high trained players long-term, but rookies are never that kind of players.

I am well aware of that, but top draft picks can be impactful first year (at least in 1.1), and be real difference makers in years 4&5. The all idea of it is to lock them down to get these productive years 4&5 at discounted price, without it being so much as an advantage as allowing extra franchise contracts. And if you are really enthused with one of said player you could lock them at the end of their rookie contract with a franchise and have them in your team for the most of their career at best price possible.

why it would not be a big change. It would be useful in controling the wages of rokies for long period of time.
and would and a other desion to make. As you can not sell player under such a contract.

OK, I understand that, but I don't think this does add anything to the game it lacks.
You have smaller wages, fine.
Since the game does only become challenging regarding money top of 1.1 and Elite this would have no big impact, except all will have smaller wage amounts, which is not really something the game need.

I would beg the differ as pete add the makes xp more costly. controling wages will become more important. And the timing of contracts.

truly i see little down side. and little upside to some upside. Depending on how it added.

If nothing else it may save some time. on the hr

That's true, it would be nice not to do 30+ contracts a season.
