I fired all my coaches after the first game (including the head coach), and I wasn't really paying any attention to offense, so wins/loses is pretty irrelevant. The only thing I was looking at was sack rate. Despite firing the coaches and having low TC, sack rate (of my OLBs) increased when I put in faster MLBs.

By aggregate I really mean average. I realize aggregate is a bit of a vague term, so that was my fault. Three 50 speed guys would perform at 50 speed if it is an average. But two 50s and two 40s are only going to perform at 45 speed.

You are right Pete said it was wrong. I know he wouldn't mislead, but he could be mistaken (bugs do happen). I'd be happy to be proven wrong here, but I don't see any other issue. I can't imagine how it could be a playbook issue given my defensive play calling against the pass isn't much different than the Raiders.

Take a look at the Raider games. Ignore the run game. Do you really see anything wrong with my pass defense calling? If you do confirm I am doing something wrong, I would really appreciate it if you could at least confirm "yes, I see what you are doing wrong." Because right now I am assuming that isn't the issue. Thank you.

I looked but not in massive detail. Mail me with your players speed by name and any traits I'll get the same from monkey and provide analysis

Thanks bwadders76. Sent you details, let me know if you need any other numbers.

Interesting to go back and look at the thread. I said that I believed the wrong speed was being used in the sack calculation. Pete's response was:

pete wrote:
You have a mistake in terms of the involved skills when it comes to a sack.

That seems to be implying that speed is not a factor for sacks...?

Started getting the info and both theories appear to be incorrect but until I've finished I can't say for certain based on your data. The most sacks have come from an aggregate of less than 130 and average speed of about 43. Like I said though it's not finished so I'll report later.

What data set are you looking at? The whole league? I'm going to feel even worse if the average sack speed is as slow that; even my LBs aren't that slow...

With all the slowest LB subs on my team in, my rock bottom lowest LB average is 45 Speed. Raiders is much higher than that.

Last season I had a total of 40 sacks all season (2.5 sacks per game). My "super sacker" OLB Ware had 9 sacks all year. For the first game this season I made one simple substitution. I replaced Pappas with Manuca:

Pappas - 48 STR, 41 SPD, 43 AGL, 46 TCK, 42 POS, 42 VIS, 16 FTW, 23 CAT, 50 INT, 4 EXP (Long Reach)

Manuca - 48 STR, 48 SPD, 28 AGL, 46 TCK, 39 POS, 43 VIS, 11 FTW, 12 CAT, 50 INT, 3.5 EXP

The only real advantage Manuca has over Pappas is speed. In my first game against the ghost the team got 10 sacks (3 for Ware)!

Unless the Ghosts have replaced their O-Line with paper dolls, I'm more and more convinced that speed is an aggregate. I'm certainly going to focus on speed for my MLBs from now on. Interceptions are more important than sacks, but not if its a 4x difference in sacks (and presumably more pressure).

Wow

What a difference one guy makes. Just by replacing that one slow MLB with a slightly faster (but otherwise lesser) MLB my OLBs more than doubled their sack rates this year!

S25 Team Total - 40 sacks
Ware - 9 sacks
Spain - 3 sacks

S26 Team Total - 85 sacks
Ware - 20 sacks
Spain - 26 sacks

Speed kills

I had 18 total in S25 and 41 total in S26
but didn't change any LB personnel
I did however work positioning only all year and they also gained more exp

I had 9 guys retire, so my overall team rating slipped a bit in S26. Got to love how folks are still questioning after showing a 45 sack increase between years Some people won't believe anything. Their loss.

I can't remember the exact words that Pete wrote in another thread but it was something like that aggregated LB speed wasn't used for calculation of sacks - My MLB's aren't that quick yet this year my OLB's had a major increase - perhaps it is something else and not just aggregated speed
