Ladies and Gentlemen of Admirals!
The groups are in and about to be locked! They are as follows: Group 1 Shard End Sharks Adventurers Golden Taints Padborg Borderliners Group 2 Aspern Lions SpringHeel Jacks Vienns Swabians Seestadt Traktor Tiefe Furche Group 3 Lakefield Vikings Erdington Doleys Comagena Lions Sodermanland Samurais Group 4 BobBoy Magpies Bracciano Lakers Rhinos Milano Saddy Rangers I have tried to make the groups as even as possible with a few tasty matchups intentionally placed in there and a nice split of the "Big 2" scalps to be taken. Group 1
Shard End Sharks Adventurers Golden Taints Padborg Borderliners Shard End Sharks - Group and tournament favourites. Despite my personal feelings towards the enemy from down the lane you cannot dispute the strength and depth of their squad. One of the big two scalps to take this tournament! A trophy cabinet filled more than Erdington High Street on dole day there is little more to say than expecting playoffs at a very minimum. Unlucky to the three who did not avoid the fish men. Adventurers - A side I am continuously impressed with. Having won one of my cups already and holding their own in a very difficult division in 1.1 and boasting a wage lower than $2 million this team is definitely a dark horse for this tournament. Maybe the most likely to upset Bwadders in this division. Playoffs should be in their sights. The Golden Taints - A side very capable of a win against any team in this tournament and already carding a 6 point win over the Adventurers in the league this year they may feel a rift of confidence having seen this draw despite the potential of being shark bait. A fool would write them off and a tasty match vs Adventurers I am looking forward to. Playoffs a good possibility. Padborg Borderliners - Fummer has received a lot of forum stick in the short time I have been in this game so far, so I engineered this group to give his quickly rising 2.1 stars a chance to shine and prove critics wrong...in particular one of his longest banter buddies the Shard End Sharks. Here is your chance Fummer! 8-1 as it stands in 2.1 could see him rise, but for this tournament the group is hard, his rival awaits him and if the two 1.1 sides aren't careful, the Dane could be smiling wider than Lord Bendtner!! Playoffs difficult but one cheeky win could see this side progress. |

Group 2
Aspern Lions SpringHeel Jacks Vienna Swabians Seestadt Traktor Tiefe Furche Aspern Lions - A very solid outfit from 1.1 who has had a difficult league run-in the last few games but keeping on the heels of the Green Mark Packers is no easy task! Will get to tangle with Vienna at some point for the Austrian Crown in this tournament but for me, their divisional test comes against the Jacks...may be a group decider who knows? Playoffs should be achievable. SpringHeel Jacks - For me the group favourites. Having already tamed the Electric and having the joy of watching them dismember my team convincingly this season I am in no doubt around this teams capabilities. The draw has given them an opportunity to flex their muscles and no offence to the others but I struggle to see on paper a team who can stop the Jacks from jumping into clear first spot. Playoffs to be expected. Vienna Swabians Seestadt - A side I am surprised not to be in 1.1 with already. They seem to struggle in playoff situations but definitely have the prospects to reach that stage with the group they have been given. I expect them to achieve but a lot will come down to the battle of the Austrians. This is a key matchup in their bid for playoffs. Playoffs difficult. Traktor Tiefe Furche - The tournament underdogs are placed in this group and what a chance they have to prove themselves! Potentially the backing of the RZA Admirals community in every match to cause the upset and having lost only to the powerhouses of 2.1 so far I see no reason why they can't upset a few of the bigger teams in this tournament! A team I shall watch closely but the bookies would say Playoffs very difficult. |

Group 3
Lakefield Vikings Erdington Doleys Comagena Lions Sodermanland Samurais Lakefield Vikings - Another strong team entered the fray of this tournament. They are sitting well in the League with a 6-3 record. And having the title of only one of two teams to defeat the on-form Jacks this season they should expect a good run in this tournament. Not an easy group by any means and they will be very much aware of their opposition in each and every game. A lot will depend on how they start, but Playoffs should be expected. Erdington Doleys - We all know I am one of the most self confident managers in Admirals and quite vocal about that fact too. But this group made me sweat a little when organising it but I relish a challenge. I've tamed Sharks before, so I'm confident of sinking the Longship of Lakefield, making the Lions of Comagena purr and the Samurais commit hari kari...Ego says playoffs certain, realism says playoffs difficult. Comagena Lions - Five straight defeats in a row will leave the coach of this side reeling, so this tournament is the perfect opportunity for the Austrian to restore some confidence in his side. A tough matchup with a strong 1.1 side, the ever unpredictable Doleys and a recently removed 1.1 side in the Samurais leaves them grounds to prove themselves, but no game is easy for them. Playoffs difficult but dependant on their start. Sodermanland Samurais - Used to being underdogs in my cup but they have never failed to impress me, pulling results out of the Baltic Sea just when they need it. They will need all the Martial focus they possess to ascend from this group but advancing is definitely within the realms of possibility. They may be a 2.2 side but play far from division 2 football. Do not underestimate. Playoffs difficult. |

Group 4
BobBoy Magpies Bracciano Lakers Rhinos Milano Saddy Rangers BobBoy Magpies - The other big scalp of this tournament and currently sitting undefeated in the League they should feel extremely confident coming into this tournament. Little more to say than clear group favourites and Playoff failure would be a catastrophe for dell_g. Bracciano Lakers - A divisional rival of mine and expected thorn in my side for many seasons to come. Very well rounded team with little to no gaping holes and the ability to grind out results as I well found out. A nice opportunity to take hold of the Admirals Mafia when they duel the Rhinos, which I am looking forward to. Playoffs should be in their sights. Rhinos Milano - Another divisional rival of mine who was unlucky to be in the same division as me when we were both so dominant in the league. They are very much showing it this year and would want to return to 1.1 asap. A division full of 1.1 teams for him to prove that against and an upset is definitely possible from the Milan outfit. Playoffs possible. Saddy Rangers - A very difficult side to predict. They either win by a big scoreline or fall foul of the RZA hammering squad. I cannot predict what will happen when teams play these guys so they should be approached with a lot of caution!! Playoff chances unknown. |
