Welcome to week 7 in the best league in RZA! And we got a beauty of a game for you this week. Upstart (can we still call you an upstart?) The Green Machine goes against Basterds, an established brand in Thunder 1.1.
Basterds can't tread anymore water this season and this makes it for a very interesting encounter between two teams who both favour the run. Lovers of old-skool football...sit up and and take notice!  |

Question 1. Your opponent has only conceded 1 TD (!!) all season. How will you fight this beast of a team? Thanks for letting me know
Well, as always I will try to control the ball, minimize Turnovers and hope for sucess in the redzone. Let's see if my RB-by-comittee approach can handle it. Question 2. You are in arguably the toughest division in the league. You have already given up a game (ED: against Alligators) for the Supercup but surely the team can afford no more losses? Actually I'm still suffering from this MOTY as PC for some starters is still quite low. But I'm used to play one of the tougher divisions. I remember some tough seasons against Divers/Drinker/Tankers/Cardinals or Wiesengrund and of course Totoras Patriots and now Osler Rebells (and Bogan Galaxy and Deflators). But it makes it really funny and you also have to pay attention to every non divisional game as every win is much needed. But I think even with a loss against The Green Machine nothing would be completly lost as I prooved I'm able to win my division matchups. Question 3. What do you think will be the deciding factor in this game? Hmm, don't really know to be honest. As I said before I like to control the ball so time of possesion and TO might be really important for me... Question 4. Give me a stat about your team that you think will matter this season? Who will check more girls: Choonhavan Jamaludin, Knut Tagwerker or Ramón Muñoz? EDITOR: the answer is obvious: Choonhavan Jamaludin as he has the highest skill in catching (girls) 
Question 5. What is your manager's philosophy for your team and what is your long term goal for your team? Oh, yes - my philosophy: Ground attack, splitting snaps, nasty LB play, hope for the rest Question 6. What feature would you like to see in RZA game engine that is not already in there? If I could wish something it would be time management (Kneel-Down, Timeouts), being able to decide which LB/SF goes for a Blitz and such things like 2PC and Special Team Fakes... Feared but also respected manager jggreen of The Green Machine gave us this interview over breakfast:
Question 1. This is the first time you will play Basterds. How much of an extra challenge is it for you, a notorious tactical schemer, to play a team that you've never played before. We are excited to play the bastards. Every game in a 1-1 is a challenge. We expect a win. Our goal this season is to go completely undefeated. Question 2. You must have been very disappointed last season to not reach the Bowl. This season the goal seems to be the same. How confident are you that you will reach the bowl this year? I don't know if I'm confident but you're right that is definitely the goal as I stated above our goal is to go completely undefeated. I feel our defense is greatly strengthened this year if you will notice we have given up very few points and either super cup or League games. We have shifted some things around on defense which I feel are making us more stingy. Question 3. What do you think will be the deciding factor in this game? The deciding factor will be who can run the ball and turnovers as well as 3rd down efficiency. Question 4. Give me a stat about your team that you think will matter this season? Our all world number one running back from last season is averaging over 228 rushing yards per game in Thunder 1.1. Question 5. What is your manager's philosophy for your team and what is your long term goal for your team? Our philosophy is to develop use and in the meantime use veterans to compete now. When we have ripped hiring veterans that are starters we go out and find replacements on the TM prior to season roll over. Question 6. What feature would you like to see in RZA game engine that is not already in there? I would like to see more control over blitzing and more control over the ability to run man-to-man coverage on defense. Also I feel lopsided game identification penalty should be removed I think teens should be able to run whatever offense they want. |
