In my division has appeared a Bot, exactly in the second day.
Having a Bot in your division is securing 2 wins, which in a 16-game league is a major number.

My team is clearly benefited by this situation, this post is not the typical reaction (infantile many times) of the manager who only complains when the wind blows against him.

The Bots are (I think) the great unresolved problem of online sports games, where teams face each others and only the best ranked players jump to the next level.

Most admin of these games apply the same solution: do nothing. A good team to become Bot loses all their skills and forget, in an instant, to know how to play.

I think there are much better alternatives than the current one to address the problem of bots. Not to definitely solve the problem, which I think is impossible.

The alternative that I propose, and which I believe would not be difficult to apply, is the following:

- An active team to become bot would retain the last line and potential of their players until the last day of the season.
-At the end of the season, you would lose your skills (as it happens now) and automatically put you in last position. If there is more than 1 bot team, in order of arrival.

It is unacceptable what has happened this season with a team from my division, Nevada Scorpions, who faced Modest Mouse at full capacity and lost. The following day MM was transformed into Bot and later Girona Dragons won 157-0.

This has a name and it is Competition Adulteration.

These injustices cause many managers to lose the illusion in the game and abandon it.

I repeat, the perfect solution does not exist, but better alternatives to the current one, yes.

Tks!

Enjoy!

I like the idea but I think we've had a no to this many times.
What about instead of points different for tie-breakers it was based on combined ELO of the teams faced? Although total destruction of bots would still happen it would damage the teams that played them in case of tie-breakers at season end?
(We may have already had a no to this too?!)

I agree with you.
This season we had in Seadevils a team turning bot the day after rollover. Frustrating. Now we even have 5 bots this season including 2 in the same div. We also have one manager playing 4 bots games in a row currently. That gives a serious advantage to the guy compare to the other teams.

I find it very interesting for bot problems too

It's kind of an "Streng Of Schedule" thing, would be quite unfair to decide between 2 teams that faced human teams all season long.

And when do we take into account the ELO rank of the teams faced precedently ? At the beginning of the season (seems odd since teams aren't botted yet then) ? Right before the game ? Right after ? Or after week 17 when the playoffs schedule is being made ?

This thread from October 2011 (when RZA was only 1 month old) already suggested that and is on Pete's To Do list now.

Maybe this is harder to do than we realize which is why it's been on the back burner for so long? Only Pete knows for sure.

I insist, it's not a question of finding the perfect solution because it don't exist.

It's to find a solution "less bad" than the current one, the worst of all IMO.

Right before the game, kickoff.

I think there are just too many tasks to work on. Pete makes his priority list and maybe this issue has a lower priority because the solution is just a bit better than status quo.
To get the engine balanced is an issue which takes a lot of time after every change and he also has to do some things in real life. Time is the answer why not everything is done at once.

I absolutely understand that Pete is already busy with quite a lot of things and that this is not his top priority for sure, I was just sharing the fact that it's already on Pete's To Do basically.

Delayed Scrubbing

I made this suggestion a couple seasons back, but Pete said there is already too much stuff happening at season rollover, so he doesn't want to have to loBOTomize teams at the end of the season. Its unfortunate because it would go a long way towards improving the game if the bots teams were just left at full strength.
